Rob Cohen’s producing credits include The Monster Squad and The Running Man. On the directing side he’s responsible for The Skulls, xXx, Stealth, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, xXx and the upcoming Alex Cross. I’m sensing a disconnect.

We Got This Covered caught up with Mr. Cohen making the rounds for Alex Cross when the subject of that rumored third xXx was brought up, a film that’d reportedly reunite Vin Diesel with what was supposed to be his very own franchise. Here’s Cohen:

It’s sort of dormant, I’m waiting for Vin [Diesel] to get his head out of Fast and Furious sequels.

I wasn’t aware this was a sequel anyone was clamoring for. That’s a pretty bad sign when even Vin Diesel isn’t interested in revisiting a character from his heyday. I’d just as soon embrace Diesel in a Pacifier retread than see the return of Xander Cage, a character that literally uttered the line, “Dude, stop thinking Prague Police and start thinking PlayStation!” Not even Mountain Dew commercials stoop to such brogasmically pandering depths.
