The Heat, not to be confused with Michael Mann’s classic, Paul Feig’s Sandra Bullock/Melissa McCarthy buddy cop comedy, debuted its first trailer not long ago, the results turning out decent but not great. With the release of this new red band trailer (courtesy of IGN), however, we get a little more of the same but a clearer picture that this could end up being a lot of fun and not just simply The Other Girls. By lacing some more profanity into the mix, it looks like The Heatseems to be riding off Running Scared and 21 Jump Streetin a Boston that Ben Affleck would be keen to show off.

Feig’s coming off of Bridesmaids, whose success was justified and has one of the funniest single lines of the past few years*. He directed Melissa McCarthy to an Oscar nomination on that go-around, and to see Sandra Bullock taking on an action movie again for the first time since Speed 2enthralled no one but Roger Ebert is encouraging.

Starring alongside Demian Bichir, Marlon Wayans, Michael Rapaport, Kaitlin Olson (Sweet Dee!) and the legendary Thomas F. Wilson, we’ll see if The Heat has some warmth on April 5.
