The marketing on this seems off, so it’s good to hear that it’s actually worth a look. Tom Cruise takes a lot of shit, but he’s pretty damn good at playing his niche and making people enjoy being at the movies. Which is more than you get from most movie stars.

This movie surprised me, big time. I left the theatre hoping to soon read that McQuarrie has agreed to write and direct the sequel thus giving Paramount the grand opportunity to alternative Jack Reacher and Jack Ryan movies every December.

Had to quit reading the reviews. I was afraid you were describing too many WTF moments, and I want to see them for myself. When this was announced I was clueless. As it got closer I got kind of interested. In the last month or so I’ve gotten downright excited. A stripped-down, bad-ass action film with Tom Cruise? The man is the ultimate pro who never seems to sleepwalk thru a part so FUCK yeah! Can’t wait. Great tag team review (well, the first half) BTW.

If Tom Cruise heard you say that he'd get all huffy and say he CAN dunk. Then embarrass himself trying to dunk and making excuses until it got so uncomfortable that we all left. Then the next time we saw him... he'd be able to dunk.
