June 4th. That’s when Capcom will be unleashing Remember Me to win over the hearts and especially minds of the people. As of right now, judging from the new trailer? Could go either way. The combat looks rather plain-jane here, but everything about what the combat is in aid of–the setting, the aesthetic, the story, the memory splicing, the protagonist–is a giant pile of great ideas. Capcom had settled into a Street Fighter/Resident Evil-induced rut the couple of years prior to 2012. Between this, Dragon’s Dogma, and Asura’s Wrath, it’s great seeing Capcom throw ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks. I have the most hope for this one, though. Here’s hoping their ambition doesn’t exceed their grasp.
