If you could get past the deadness of Josh Hutcherson’s performance as Peeta Mellark, Gary Ross’ The Hunger Games was a mildly decent affair. When I covered the cast’s visit to Minneapolis last year I encountered a fanbase every bit as fervent as the Twihards. There were men (mostly doting dads), women and children who’d been in line some 30+ hours just to be close to the actors playing their beloved characters. I liked Suzanne Collins’ first book a fair amount, just not enough to continue onto its sequel, Catching Fire.

Speaking of which, I once feared I’d caught “the catching fire” after a one-night tryst in Vegas with a wayward companion of ill repute. I won’t go into further detail except to say my fears proved unfounded upon discovering a tonic that would combat the affliction before it had time to take hold, as it were.

Where was I? Oh yeah, here are the character posters from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the latest of which includes Academy Award-winning tumbleweed Jennifer Lawrence. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film saunters into theatres November 22nd, 2013:
