deguisement-de-couple-neytiri-et-jake-sully-avatar-enfants_200227I’m the guy that loved Avatar. Loved it. Still love it. I’m the guy who finds it hard to believe that there wasn’t a lot of ulterior motive in the mixed reception the film got from the online film community. From what I understand it was successful.

Yes that was sarcasm. Lately it appears some of the talkbackers aren’t catching it.

So today it was announced that the two Avatar sequels are no more. Now there’s three sequels. Yes, there will be an Avatar IV at some point. I’m cool with that and I know Sam Worthington’s agent is cool with that.

The weird thing is hearing that legendary auteurvatar James Cameron is sharing the load. Usually he’s the only cook in the high tech kitchen designed by Ron Cobb. This time he’s bringing collaborators for each installment, including Shane Salerno. If you don’t know, Shane was the guy who went through many drafts on my ill-fated prehistoric shark movie Meg. How’d that one work out?

The participants in this collaboration:

Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds, The Black Dahlia).

Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Relic)

Shane Salerno (Savages, AvP)

No word on when these will all see screens but you can bet your bottom dollar that anyone who doesn’t write for a blog will be thrilled.
