Get paid, Richard! Seriously, if anyone deserves a grant in the form of a family-friendly directing gig, it’s Richard Linklater. He just premiered Boyhood at Sundance, a film that was 12 years in the making. And last year’s Before Midnight was a lovely, mature addition to that (hopefully ongoing) series. Now he’s reportedly the front runner for a remake of that Don Knotts movie I saw in the 2nd grade when it was too rainy to go outside. The remake is supposed to be a vehicle for Zack Galifianakis, who will have to look better as a fish than Jim Carrey might have if this concept art from a previous, aborted attempt is any indication.

Linklater would be teaming with the animation team behind Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly if this actually happens. That could be interesting in itself.
