I’ve skimmed at least two reviews of The Signal (it played at 2014’s Sundance) to see if my educated guess about the film’s “twist” was accurate. Yup.

That’s not to say that the visuals don’t look stunning or that the central premise or its execution won’t play, but if you watched this and thought, “hey, that looks a little like *Highlight to reveal the Invis-o-text!* Chronicle,” then you’re as smart as I am (see: dumb)!

This has a Summer release, which hopefully speaks to the confidence the studio has in the film. The director is William Eubank, who madeĀ Love, another sci-fi movie with a beautiful trailer and a teensy, weensy budget.

Also, here’s a poster!
