What began as a rumor on LatinoReview this morning has now been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter: The MCU Daredevil show on Netflix has lost its showrunner, The Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard. The reason for his departure has not yet come to light, but it may have something to do with the fact that he’s working with Sony on the next Spideyverse film, Sinister Six. Goddard will still act as a consultant on the show, but showrunning duties will supposedly fall into the hands of Spartacus showrunner Steven S. DeKnight.

Marvel is going to have to do some SERIOUS damage control after this weekend. Some damage control has already begun: Joss Whedon and James Gunn have reached out, expressing solidarity with now-detached Ant-Man director Edgar Wright and Marvel. One thing’s for sure: the sentiment around the web is that Marvel is driving away its visionary creative talent. While I wouldn’t be so bold as to say that, something definitely seems amiss, especially after Fox has made a step in the right direction with X-Men: Days of Future Past. We’ll keep you posted, but if more shit starts to hit the fan, I think we’ll all be standing by the train tracks, awaiting the potential derailing of a massive franchise. I don’t think it will come to that, but that doesn’t prevent us from thinking about how that train wreck might look.
