the crow comic

I don’t want to rewatch The Crow. It’s one of those movies that I prefer the memory of over the reality, because I don’t think I would be able to stand The Crow now. I bought the comic book immediately after seeing the movie, and the story behind it (author James O’Barr made it to deal with losing his girlfriend to a drunk driver) always resonated with me. At the time, I thought The Crow was deep and amazing filmmaking. Now, I’m afraid I’ll find it over-the-top and melodramatic.

All of this has nothing to do with Deadline‘s report about the newest development in the potential remake, which now has Boardwark Empire‘s half-faced assassin Jack Huston in talks for the lead.

Who wants this movie? I feel like the original comic was such a personal piece of artistic grieving that everything after it feels more and more hollow. I’ve never seen any of the other sequels or the TV show, so maybe some Chewers who are steeped in Crow lore can enlighten me as to why this property continues to hang around (other than it being the reason we don’t have Brandon Lee showing up as Iron Fist’s tutor in the eventual Iron Fist show). And if you can convince me to actually rewatch The Crow, I will report back to you how that experiment turned out.
