Captain Marvel

Another day, another superhero movie rumor. We truly are living in a golden age, friends.

Fans were understandably excited when Marvel announced it was making a Captain Marvel film. We want as many great Marvel films as we can and we really, really want superhero films that shine a spotlight on heroes of different genders and races, especially when Peter Parker is suiting up onscreen for the umpteenth time.

After the announcement was made, people started dream-casting the main role. Who would play Carol Danvers? Would it be a well-established star (like, say, Emily Blunt or Jessica Chastain) or would it be a newcomer? We have no idea.

But Marvel might.

Confirming an older report from Badass Digest, Latino-Review is claiming that Marvel already has its Captain Marvel cast and ready to go. So ready, in fact, that she’ll make an appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. In this day of leaks and scoops and TOLDJA’s, it’s remarkable if Marvel really has cast the character and kept it all under wraps.

Now, what will Danver’s appearance in Ultron be like? Will she be Captain Marvel or just regular ol’ Carol? Will this just be a little wink and nod to the audience or substantial to the plot? And, most importantly, who the hell is playing her?

The report also has some other information about the upcoming standalone Marvel film, including the fact that comic book scribe Kelly Sue DeConnick wants to write it. Considering how great she’s done with the character on the page, I think that would be a smart choice by Marvel.

Quick, list your choices for Captain Marvel before the internet does its thing and reveals the real choice!

RT! HOT #MARVEL #RUMOR ABOUT #CAPTAINMARVEL #SPOILER Apparently, from what I’m being told, the rumor is that the studio has cast the role of Carol Danvers & keeping it top secret. I’m also being told we will first see her in #AVENGERS #AgeofUltron as originally written in previous drafts of the screenplay. In terms of the standalone film, the Marvel brain trust has blocked out the plot & story with the intention of bringing an established writer to write the script. Comic writer Kelly Sue DeConnick wanted to take a crack at writing the screenplay but I’m not sure if she got the gig. Also, I’m told legendary comic writer Jim Starlin, who has a rich history with Captain Marvel is aboard the project as a consultant. All of the above is #UNCONFIRMED so take with grain of salt until further notice but it’s within the realm of plausibility.
