Need some Star Wars news? Here’s some.

Birth.Movies.Death heard over drinks that Darth Vader will be in the first Star Wars Anthology movie, Rogue One. He won’t be the main antagonist, but his presence will be felt. Considering that James Earl Jones (The Exorcist IICaspar: A Spirited Beginning) is getting up there in years, I wonder if he’ll be back to portray that hater of sand, Anakin Skywalker. He’s currently doing so in the Star Wars Rebels cartoon, so it’s quite possible we’ll get to hear him shout “NOOOOOOO!” one more time.

The real interesting news has to do with another spinoff film, namely the Han Solo movie. Cinematic Rumpelstiltkins Phil Lord and Chris Miller have officially been announced as the directors. I don’t have any interest in a Han Solo or Boba Fett movie, but when these two attach themselves to a project, my head tilts sideways in curiosity. These guys have been great all the way back to their Clone High days, and though I’d rather they not be wasted on a story about how young Han Solo became old Han Solo, I’m still intrigued at what they bring to the table.

All this Star Wars news is pretty much a gamble until we see how The Force Awakens shakes out (critically at least. It’s going to be the biggest movie of all time as far as box office is concerned), and I can only allow myself so much hype at once. Since The Force Awakens has me rooting for it already, I’ll save my excitement for other Star Wars stuff for after this Christmas.
