The cynical part of me wants to ignore the upcoming Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but we keep hearing about all the great actors that are hoppin’ on board this thing. I’m geniunely intrigued over here, especially now that Ron Perlman has been cast in the film as a goblin. Yes, really (according to EW).

We love Perlman here at CHUD, and the dude is so magnanimous that he gave us some serious love in his most recent interview with us:

“I always appreciate my time with you guys at CHUD. You guys have always treated everything I do with so much love and care and I just want to thank you and everybody over there.”

Perlman joins Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton and HP mainstay director David Yates. The script was written by J.K. Rowling herself, a first for the film franchise.

Lovers of the franchise (like myself) should be excited — this is a story set in a wizarding New York in the 1920’s. I love that this is a story about adults, and will open up huge new sections of the canon that haven’t been explored before.

Production is currently under way, and we’ll see the film in November 2016.
