I think we all need at least one really nice positive thing about the entertainment business every single day of the year, including weekends. Sometimes it may be something simple, like a video that showcases something fun and sometimes it may be a movie poster that embraces the aesthetic we all want Hollywood to aspire to. Sometimes it may be a long-winded diatribe. Sometimes it’ll be from the staff and extended family of CHUD.com. Maybe even you readers can get in on it. So, take this to the bank. Every day, you will get a little bit of positivity from one column a day here. Take it with you. Maybe it’ll help you through a bad day or give folks some fun things to hunt down in their busy celluloid digesting day.

What I’m Thankful For:
Summer House Coffee

Sometimes, the holidays beckon you to return home so you can spend time with your family.

Sometimes, that home is a small, burnt out town that appears to be a lot emptier than you remember from your youth.  Whether it’s because your younger self was a lot more hopeful and optimistic or because you have just come to the realization that you purposely blocked out most of your childhood because of the pain, sometimes you find yourself coming back to your home town and thinking to yourself, “Who tore this place down?  Oh, it’s not?  Wow.”

When you find that three or four days in mountain town desolation could be the death of you, Summer House Coffee is there.

Situated on the corner in the middle of a porklet and nestled in between the remnants of resignation, Summer House is your source of comfort and refuge when you feel like that forty-second trip to the only K-Mart in town is one too many.

Cozy. Warm. Comfortable. At ease. These are all things you would be feeling if you could be back home right now.But Summer House does its best to bring the next best thing, right to your face:

Coffee. And lots of it.

Trying to re-repress childhood memories?  Have a mocha latte. Trying to fight off the effects of a sleepy mountain town? 9Double-espress yourself. Can’t figure out which road takes you out of this Godforsaken place?  Well, you’re on your own there. But, have a caramel macchiato to go while you try your best to find a means of escape.

And not only is the coffee great, but the atmosphere is pleasant to boot. With a rustic feel that suggests college kids use this place to get away from their dysfunctional families, the surroundings offer a serene environment where you can relax and enjoy the different roasts being offered. You almost feel like you could stay here forever.

Until you suddenly remember that you really need to get the hell out of here.

Summer House Coffee House. We offer sanctuary with every cup.

Seriously, though. I really love this place.
