365 days of Sci-Fi

From the mind behind the mega-hit Syfy show you’ve probably never heard of (EUREKA)
comes a tribute to all those no-budget Syfy original movies and the “so
bad, they’re good” films that inspired them.  Move over Roger Corman,
step back Ed Wood, make way on your weekend programming schedule Mr.
Stern, because here comes Andrew Cosby’s 365 DAYS OF SCI-FI.

And it’s all happening here!  Each day, your friends at CHUD will
bring you a brand new bad movie pitch — the best of the worst title
Cosby can come up with, no matter where he’s at or what he’s doing, rain
or shine, drunk or sober.   That’s a whole year of the quality concepts
you’ve come to expect from the network that brought you MANSQUITO and
SHARKTOPUS.

Day One

My parents had absolutely no filter when it came to what I could and
couldn’t watch as a child, so I grew up with all the classic creature
features.  I guess you could say the Universal monsters were my
babysitters, so I’ve always loved a good fright flick.  Bride of
Frankenstein is a cinematic masterpiece.  And the Hammer films are in a
class all their own.  So, this is my love letter to all those late night
monster marathons, and to the father who had the good sense (or lack
thereof) to let his son stay up late to watch ’em.

And now… DAY TWO:

“A woman’s work is never done.”

Pitch:
Following the tragic events of Mary Shelly’s classic tale, Dr.Frankenstein’s only daughter returns home from studies abroad, only to discover her father murdered and the family name forever tarnished. Wanted for questioning by the police and hounded by angry villagers still looking to exact their revenge upon the Frankenstein family, she flees to London with all that’s left of a once promising inheritance– her father’s diary, which contains all of his scientific secrets. There, under an assumed identity, she enrolls in medical school and soon picks up where dad left off, ultimately improving upon his work with wondrous and ultimately terrifying results.

Nick Says: First of all, amazing title.  Secondly, congrats on the classy synopsis. My feeble mind would have expected yet another Undead Girl vs. Nazis film. Instead, it’s… She-Animator! Delightful. One could only hope this is the role that gets Robin Tunney lifted back up to the B-List before it’s too late.
