365 days of Sci-Fi

From the mind behind the mega-hit Syfy show you’ve probably never heard of (EUREKA) comes a tribute to all those no-budget Syfy original movies and the “so bad, they’re good” films that inspired them. Move over Roger Corman, step back Ed Wood, make way on your weekend programming schedule Mr. Stern, because here comes Andrew Cosby’s 365 DAYS OF SCI-FI.

And it’s all happening here! Each day, your friends at CHUD will bring you a brand new bad movie pitch — the best of the worst title Cosby can come up with, no matter where he’s at or what he’s doing, rain or shine, drunk or sober. That’s a whole year of the quality concepts you’ve come to expect from the network that brought you MANSQUITO and SHARKTOPUS.

And now… DAY NINE:

“Gonna really geek out now and take you back to my childhood, when many a night was spent staying up late with friends, tossing funky-sided dice and playing what my mother still refers to as “the Devil’s game.” That’s right, I’m talking Dungeons and Dragons.  For those in the know, you might recall that Expedition to the Barrier Peaks was a particularly fun little adventure in which the players stumble upon a crashed spaceship buried deep in the mountains.  At one point, my character found a laser pistol and went on to lay fiery waste to a horde of horrid little vegetable men.  Good times.  Anyway, this was perhaps my first real experience with genre hybridization, and it obviously made an impression.  So, today’s movie mash-up goes out to all you high rollers who believe swords and sorcery could use a bit more good old-fashioned firepower.’

– Andy Cosby

“Get Medieval!”

Pitch:

Bullets and broadswords collide when Merlin’s spell goes awry, transporting Colonel Lance Powers and his elite Special Forces unit back in time to the days of Camelot, where they join forces with King Arthur and his fabled Knights of the Round Table in a desperate struggle to regain their kingdom from the traitorous Mordred and his wicked witch-mother, Morgana.  With the help of a beautiful freedom fighter, Lady Guineverre, Arthur and Lance fight side-by-side, using modern military tactics and medieval might to turn the tide of battle in their favor.  But when one of the Colonel’s men goes rogue, a weapon of mass destruction falls into enemy hands, threatening to rewrite history and wipe out half of Northern Europe in the process.

Nick Says: In a perfect world, the soldiers would arrive and either they or the medieval dudes will get germs from the other and die a quick and useless death. Or better yet, Mordred drops his evil scheme when he gazes on the shiny trinket of glory that in an iPod Nano when one of the soldiers presents it.
