Vin Diesel is a beefy sort and he’s riding high on the success of Fast Five (and deservedly so- it’s a good movie). How he will parlay that clout so far is to be determined but the first bit of fresh news regarding the actor certainly doesn’t inspire confidence.

The Machine.

Cool title. Could be great. Then the synopsis begins pretty cool:

A human-like machine created in secrecy by the Pentagon as the world’s first true ultimate weapon.  Twenty years after the project was buried and decommissioned for reasons unknown, The Machine…

Then it goes to shit hell:

…is discovered by a kid who befriends him. When the government learns it has been reactivated, the Machine must protect the family harboring him.

Vin Diesel + Kids. Error. I don’t even care if it’s more Terminator 2 than E.T., it still reeks of smash-up mainstream four corner dogshit and frankly Mr. Diesel is lucky to have a career that enables him to return to relevance every few years. If he still cares about the stuff he said he cared about it seems he’d be delivering nice muscular genre movies while he’s still able. Riddick coming back is good (especially after David Twohy was usurped by a holocaust and could use the work) but I want more. Vin is good at action. He’s convincing. He’s bald as fuck.

Don’t Pacify us anymore, Vin.
