Everyday PR groups send emails, screeners, press releases, and promo materials that try desperately to get face time with silly stunts or assumptions that you care about being a boldfaced whore for their interests. Sometimes they’re right, sometimes they’re wrong, but rarely does a request actually stand out enough to earn its complete lack of subtlety. Today one does, and that is the Emmy Nomination Campaign for Michael Rooker.
It’s been a few months since The Walking Dead divided geek audiences while capturing the attention of the mainstream crowd, and we’re already hearing about filming for Season 2, and yet it still hasn’t gone through awards season. Well now it’s time, and Rooker is among a wide batch of actors up for a potential nomination for “Best Guest Actor In A Drama Series.”
Michael Rooker is one of the greats- a batshit character actor that would be as fun off screen as he is on screen, if he wasn’t so goddamn excellent every time he’s on screen. He’s one of James Gunn’s favorites so his latest big screen appearance is in the gritty superhero send-off Super, and most geeks likely know him from Mallrats, but he’s been a staple since the late 80s. Now some wonderful folks are working to make sure he gets his due at the Emmy’s (which don’t deserve him, but we’ll take it) with an excellent series of “For Your Consideration” posters.
And if you think this isn’t one-hundred percent the real deal, you can look at the Emmy nom ballot yourself, where Rooker is number 1063…
Michael Rooker
as Merle
The Walking DeadA handcuffed and delirious Merle mumbles to himself on the roof of the department store. When walkers clamor at the stairwell door, he snaps out of his daze and resumes his task: using his belt to try to reel in a hacksaw lying just out of reach
There is a boring, straightforward poster at the bottom, but the other three are very fun. I want more. I want TV spots, internet ads, the works.

HELP HIM!
Those are great.
“Divided Geek Audiences”? I think you meant to say, divided “Chud Writters”.
Even though the character was a jerk, I still root for him. Rooker is great as an ass.
Where the hell is the Peter Dinklage campaign?
He needs that Emmy. Merle was probably the most interesting character from the first season, aside from the other acting powerhouse, Norman Reedus as his brother.
Hell, yes! I kept waiting for him to show back up! Rooker is great in whatever he does. Been a fan since Henry.
BTW, what is a “writter”?
Two things:
First, I love the Rook, but wasn’t he only in the entire series for like 15 minutes total?
Second, whether its from just reading the title, or reading an excerpt of one of your articles, I can ALWAYS tell its you Renn.
(Not in a good way)
This has got to be a fucking joke.
