Batman gets a lot of crap about never getting over his parents' death, but I can't help but wonder if maybe that's the most realistic take on it of all similar superhero origin stories.

Peter Parker never really mentions Uncle Ben much or at least it's never emphasized as much in origin/background stories as Bruce Wayne's parents' death is. It sort of implies Peter's gotten over it.

There's an exchange in one of the first of the newer Green Lantern comics way back when Hal Jordan came back where he gave Bruce his ring and had him conjure up his parents in a construct. I don't remember it exactly but it was something about getting over it and forgetting it happened, and Batman stopped it and said "I don't want to forget." Thought that was handled very well.
