Well, if you were excited about an Expendables conceived, developed, and shot as an R-rated flick, you maybe to tamp your expectations down, because for all those dumb jokes about how badass he is, apparently the book-writing, outspoken Christian conservative still just doesn’t like naughty language. If a translated interview with the star is anything to go by, the actor is claiming he was the squeaky wheel that ensured a PG-13 rating with the producers by having the script cleansed of obscenities.
I can’t tell if this is utter bullshit or not, but if it’s true… man, what a lame asshole! I don’t really care much for The Expendables (aside from each and every frame that includes Terry Crews), but an opportunity to see the insanity built from the ground up as a hardcore brutal action flick was at least vaguely interesting. The first film is a relatively (to, say, Rambo) tame R since it added a lot of digital blood and violent shenanigans to eventually get an R-rating. And while that’s not to say a man being blown in half is not hardcore, you could still detect the tame bedrock of the film as it went along. Obviously the MPAA is pretty accommodating of violence, but if Walker Texas TimAllenWithABlurFilter-Face forced a PG-13 from the start… did that affect the degree of violence shot?
The following quote comes from ExpendablesPremiere:
“In Expendables 2, there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay. Fot this reason, many young people wouldn’t be able to watch this. But i don’t play in movies like this. Due to that i said i won’t be a part of that if the hardcore language is not ereased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13. [sic]“
So…. don’t say the “fuck” word so that kids can get their hearty helping of explosive, bloody violence? Of course I can completely believe this kind of illogical hypocrisy coming from an action star (and the MPAA for that matter), but it’s just hard to believe this guy was so important to this bloated cast that he could swing the direction of things. So ultimately I don’t entirely buy this, but for fans of the franchise it might be a good idea to at least gird your loins for the worst…
Surely someone will demand Stallone clarify the situation and he’ll assure everyone it’s nonsense, but if not, I have a feeling the Chuck Norris meme might get revived and updated to tear down his name and brand him the pansy butthole he is, if this is true.
Since the protesting spirit is leading the day, I think I’ll protest this news with a delightful montage demonstrating the anti-Norris…

If Expendables 2 is not rated R I will wait for video. I used to like Chuck but now I know for sure he’s a peice of shit. Fuck You Chuck Norris is this is true. Truthfully I think this is hoopla to big up the movie, I mean if he knew what part one was why would he even get involved. I dont think he’s that dumb I think this is just controversial hype for the movie.

Wow. How quick everyone jumps to crucify a man for his beliefs. I by no means agree with his decision, but I think it shows his conviction rather than his… douchebaggery.
Besides, if just the language was enough to drop this to a PG-13, then the movie wasn’t that violent to begin with. Oh, and keep in mind, in most PG-13 films, your allowed to say most cuss words. You even get one “fuck”, supposing the language balances out with onscreen violence/drug use/ sexual suggestion/ sexual acts.
Anyway, somebody needed to be the other voice in here.
