I’m a grumpy jerk when it comes to stuff like Pride and Prejudice with Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, but only because they feel like major shortcuts and represent a weird precedent. In an era where sequels and remakes and adaptations rule the day the last thing we need is new IP’s that aren’t actually fresh and new. But once again, I am sort of a grumpy jerk. Per AICN, here’s the trailer for the Lincoln flick, delivered in the frenetic and impatient style of the man who brought you the “watch” series and Wanted:

This is sure to make some serious Cowboys & Aliens money!
Said the guy who produced a remake…
Have you ever said a nice thing?
Sorry, I just found this post a tad hypocritical. But you’re right, I should shut up. I am a fan of your writing and probably a bit jealous that you were able to produce a film, even if I wasn’t a fan of it.
Christ, how did we ever get here.
When did CHUD become “If the movie isn’t a boring Terence Malick 4 hour movie filled with shots of people staring at the skyline then the movie is shit” site?
It is a B movie let’s review it as such
kthks
I honestly don’t know why everyone is hating on this. I mean, yeah, it’s a stupid concept, but it’s SUPPOSED to be silly. It has it’s tongue firmly in its cheek. Some movies are allowed to be fun. I’d rather watch this than another friggin Underworld or Resident Evil sequel. And c’mon–that last shot, of him knocking down a tree with ONE BLOW is fun/silly/awesome.
I don’t get it… How can anyone who reads CHUD and likes genre movies think this trailer doesn’t look like a ton of kick-ass fun? When did we all get so jaded?
When did everyone’s standards end up in the shitter?
I don’t know about standards for B movie Genre fair was supposed to be super high. This is a summer flick meant to be fun I think at least.
It is like I am not supposed to like anything that is stupid and fun anymore. Yet when I was a kid I loved stupid and fun shit quite a bit.
The difference, to me, is that movies used to never strive to be B movies but ended up becoming that way almost by accident. This need to try to actively make B status or cult classic films out the gate is tired and misses the point. I loved stupid fun when I was a kid and I love stupid fun as an adult, but mainly when it doesn’t set out to be that way in the first place.
