Where the show really failed though in comparison with the original is that the Vs were so goddamned boring.  The original Vs were hedonists, especially Badler as Diana.  They revelled in what the Earth had to offer, not the least of which was humans as food.  Stripped of all that, these Vs I once described as something akin to soulless Abercrombie & Fitch ads.

Bonus points for the (series) finale, which was batshit crazy.
Network TV has lost the serial drama to cable. I don’t expect any dramas besides procedurals and soap operas to ever gain an audience on network TV again.
