I totally would've busted bodily fluids if Spidey showed up at the end of Avengers. I sadly only have the slightest knowledge of Thanos.

But isn't Spider-man a part of the Ultimate Avengers or something? Seeing as how Spider-man pretty much kick started this era of super hero movies (I say "era", it looks like superhero movies will become an actual genre. Action, Horror, Superhero, etc), I always thought it'd make sense to gravitate towards that formation of the Avengers. At least in a mainstream money kinda way.

Of COURSE this will happen. Now that Avengers has crossed the "billion dollar juggernaut" threshold, all bets are off. Everyone wants to get down on the sequel. By the time an Avengers 2 is getting ready to roll, so (probably) will the next Spiderman....it's win-win for everyone involved. As we got closer to the Avengers release date, and expectations were starting to soar, and everyone was getting all hyped up, I was seriously beginning to think that they already HAD struck a deal with Sony, and they had the King of All Easter-Eggs lined up to make fanboys explode in the theaters. Sure, Thanos was great and all for the nerds (of which I am one...I squealed like a little piglet when he appeared) but Spiderman would have even had the NON-nerds busting. Anyway, I'm rambling, this WILL happen, guaranteed. Money trumps everything else, all the time.

Is it too late to throw a stinger on the end of Amazing Spiderman where Cap comes to investigate this Spiderman character roaming the streets of his fair city? It need be nothing more than Downey's appearance at the end of The Incredible Hulk. Spiderman is about to bust up some thugs, when he's interrupted bya star spangled shield flying across the screen.

I really don't think we need to start down this road with crossovers. The Avengers worked because the universe was established with all of these characters in mind, and each of the previous films created a world where having all of these characters exist at the same time made sense. As a kid, it never made sense to me why, in the comics, characters like the Fantastic Four were lauded as heroes and celebrities when Spider-Man and the X-Men were fighting the same villains on the same streets, and they were feared and persecuted. It'd bother me now, watching these characters in films when Capt. Stacy has his entire police force chasing down Spider-Man, who takes on small-time villains and crooks, while Iron Man and The Hulk are ripping up entire city blocks and being praised.

It would work well if you just had a character name-drop Spider-Man or one of the other Fox or Sony properties. It would especially make sense for Reed Richards' name to pop-up in an Avengers-related film, even if the character doesn't actually appear.
