One aspect of similar filmmakers, like Ti West and Eli Roth, that I’ve always disliked, is how they have a fanboy-ish obsession with recreating a particular vibe from ’70′s/’80′s movies, sometimes to the detriment of the movie itself. It’s as if their heads are glued on backwards, continually looking back to the past instead of the future.
