Kathryn Bigelow is hard at work in Chandigarh, India – filming what is believed to be a chronicling of the operation that successfully killed Osama bin Laden. The film, rumored to be titled Zero Dark Thirty, is aiming for a December 2012 release.

Now we have confirmation as to who will be playing bin Laden, a relatively unknown British actor by the name of Ricky Sekhon. Sekhon has supposedly already filmed his scenes, but it’s interesting nonetheless to put a face to what’s proving to be a controversial follow-up to Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker. The film has already been pushed to a December release (from October) on account of criticisms that it could be interpreted as propaganda in the election year.

Still, good for Sekhon, who’ll hopefully make the most of what’s sure to be very touchy subject-matter. On the positive, this is possibly the first time where bearing resemblance to one of the most hated, recently-expired war criminals in history would actually work to one’s favor.
