Not as horrible looking as I’d feared but the trailer shows nothing of the black humour and satire found in the comics. But it’s only a trailer so who knows? For all we know we’ll get an Otto Sump cameo encouraging everyone to “Get ugly!”.

It’s actually shockingly similar to The Raid isn’t it. No doubt both movies benefit from being able to lock down their on-screen world to a handful of corridor sets and modular rooms.

The “dry and dusty” look is interesting and I don’t think Mega City One ever looked that way in the comic, despite existing on the edge of a vast radioactive desert and similarly toxic ocean.

“It’s Judgement Time” is a bit of a worry. Will only accept it’s presence if there’s a running theme of terrible “Judge” puns.

In fairness Nolanised Batman looks more like something from the Dredd-verse.

So that’s what Judge Dredd would look like in the Nolanverse. Making it look like a Raid rip-off will detract from the fact that this movie is for when The Dark Knight Rises has sold out in all of its auditoriums and you still want to see a movie.

You really couldn't be more wrong, firstly: the logistics of ripping of the Raid so quickly for a bigger budget film are impossible. Sceondly: The Dredd screenplay was written before the Raid and it's been in production since 2009.

I don’t think the Raid-like imagery just comes from one particular sequence. I’m pretty sure that’s what the entire movie is. Sure, there will be an opening act that sets up the Mega City world, but after that I think it’s just a straight rip-off of Raid.

Also, his helmet is way too big. I thought maybe it was just a photo thing, but it still looks bad in action. They needed to shrink the helmet or add the shoulder gear.

Machimina now has the trailer on their YouTube page. Pretty sure that was why it was blocked by Lionsgate, since they gave them the rights to premiere it online, as with the 10 second teaser last night. So if you want to replace it, here you go.

I’m at work and can’t see the trailer on our computer, but I checked it out on YouTube on my phone, and it came up fine. bloodworxfilms is the poster, and it looks like it comes from the G4 site, because it has the Attack of the Show logo on it.

Renn Brown, I have no…Dredd, for this film, now that I have seen at least the trailer! I cannot wait to see the film. While Dredd will be similar to The Raid in some ways, to me it will be an…Improved version, as Dredd, features…Judges, of Mega City One, adding to the…Fun!
