I know the CHUD ruling elite hate Dark City, which I don't understand. And I refuse to try. Nick loved Mission: Impossible 3, and I'm not going to try to figure that out either. My brain is too valuable to risk damaging it with such ruminations.

So anyway, looking forward to seeing a director's cut.

And the Scanners remake can go blow.

Yeah, I don't understand the "Dark City" hatred either. I agree with the criticism that it would have been a more interesting film removing Kiefer Sutherland's "Clarissa Explains It All" narration, but despite that and other flaws, it's a lavishly stylistic film with fantastic atmosphere. Plus, a non anorexic Jennifer Connelly is always appreciated.

I'm torn on a Scanner's remake, as while no one will be able to touch Michael Ironside's awe inspiring Revok, the complete vacuum of charisma one-two punch of Jennifer O'Neil and the appropriately named Stephen Lack has to come out better.

I enjoyed Dark City as well, if not just for the visuals. It was something weird and different, and a somewhat interesting mystery/premise. I think the copy of the DVD I have is one I received as a freebie when I bought some brand of DVD player.

Count me among the fans of the film, as well, mainly because it's terribly Philip K Dick in atmosphere.
So, yes, this could be very interesting.

I remember seeing this in the theater and thinking it was okay, then I finally watched it again a few months ago and was blown away. Truly an excellent little sci-fi/noir. And since I only paid about 6 bucks for the DVD I wouldn't even mind shelling out for the director's cut.

Great tidbits! Thanks, Alex. Dark City is extremely underappreciated IMO and does not deserve the shit it gets.

Another Dark City fan here, and yeah, the hatred eludes me, too. Anyway, I've been looking forward to the director's cut for some time now. Didn't Ebert record a new commentary track for the Director's Cut DVD before he got sick? I swore I read something about that.

A remake of Scanners written by David Goyer? Piss off.
