Damages on FX - Page 2

I think the fact that Ellen took action by meeting Moore, after Patty pulled her off the case, surprised her. So she might have been curious about what was going on with Ellen, because she was avoiding Patty's phone calls, and didn't jump at the opportunity to come back to work for her. Curiosity, maybe some distrust?

My reaction was the same, those guys were bugging the apartment - but when Patty first offered David and Ellen an apartment, I kinda assumed at that point it was probably pre-bugged.

Wasn't this weeks episode supposed to be the season finale? Did anyone else get that impression?

The final scenes with Ray were great. And you know... I didn't see the flashback scene with Gregory coming at all even though it was pretty obvious the entire time...

Last episode is a day away and we have most of the answers. I'm not sure if there is going to be a season 2 but it's being billed as the season finale so hopefully FX will go for another round.

What a great ending to the season. FX has to go for another season because so much just came out. I wonder if Frobisher is really done for. All alone in that empty field, my gut says probably but you really never know. I know we'll be seeing more of his hired cop.

Once again Glenn Close was fantastic and the big reveal was perfect. There is just so much to Patty. She is definatly in my top 10 favorite tv characters.

If there is a second season, they'll bring back Frobisher.

I knew Patty was going to leak the tape, but I thought she'd do it in a more subtle manner rather than just handing the tape over to the DA. Put it back in the bottom of the statue, and give him a hint or something.

I absolutely loved the reveal of the Feds being on Patty's case. We were wondering who those guys were that bugged their place, and now we know. Also, the funeral scene was a nice bit of understated acting from the two women. No hysterics or outright crying, but you could feel their pain. This was a fantastic ending - it's a shame more viewers didn't catch this, and I'm betting it's not coming back.

A month ago I said this: "...I can't imagine what direction the show could take in a season 2, because I don't see any possibility for it to return to the status quo, of Ellen still working with Patty." Well, they sure have set up a scenario where it would make sense in a season 2. I just hope we get one.

Not sure Ted Danson would return. I think the Frobisher case is best resolved with him dead. That way there is no criminal case to worry about, and no need to deal with Patty leaking the tape, which I found awkward. Season 2 could focus on Ellen, Patty, the FBI, and the search for David's killer.

WayDen, you think the guys bugging the place were Feds? I thought the guy bugging the place and trying to explain it while chaning a light bulb was with Patty. He explained to David that they got in via a service elevator. And I thought this was the same guy that came up the service elevator to look for the tape, and was later killed by Ellen. I wish I could rewatch those two episodes, so I could confirm if it was the guy Ellen killed or the Fed that was bugging the place.

At the end, I thought there would be more to Patty at the cemetery to tie it into the plot. Didn't quite understand the relevance, aside from it showing that Patty was human, and was mourning the fact that she ordered Ellen's death.

That wasn't the guy that Ellen killed. Also I really doubt that it was the Feds bugging Ellens place. I think that if we get another season, it will be revealed then.

The tape going to the DA made perfect sense. It was part of the deal to get the charges dropped against Ellen. I know that even if it wasn't part of the deal Patty would have done it so she could bury Frobisher for good.

Ellen has balls of steel.

That was an awesome way to end a season. It finishes the Frobisher business and gives a quick intro into what a Season 2 could bring with a potential U.S. v. Hewes case. Finally, a show that had it's shit together, planning and plot-wise. I'll be sad, but not surprised, if the show isn't renewed.

She does have balls of steel. Excellent season. Very even in quality, and not overly cute or complicated despite its many plot twists. From the calendarlive piece rabigjb linked to:

"Damages" is the kind of good, old-fashioned drama that requires a viewer to pay attention and think. It doesn't rely on polar bears or superpowers or quirky back stories and pie references to hold your interest. It sticks with great storytelling and superb acting. It's television for smart people.
I agree. To those who didn't watch: You should have.

I'm almost positive that the guy who David caught messing with the lamp was one of the feds in the back of the limo. I still have last night's episode on tape, but I don't know if there was a flashback to the scene with him in the apartment at the beginning. I'll check it out later...

Boris, one of the reasons I thought the feds bugged her place (other than the fact that I thought it was the same actor) was the fact that the Feds said they knew what Ellen had done. Sure, they could've been bluffing, but David & Ellen had a heated discussion about the papers she & Patty used to blackmail Ray in the apartment, meaning they would've had a way to make Ellen turn on Patty if she hadn't volunteered to take her down.

It seemed to be showing you that she was seeing Ellen as a daughter figure, that the decision to have her killed was dredging up memories of the daughter that she lost (who wuld've been about the same age, I think).

I was wondering how those graveyard scenes connected until Ellen revealed it was Patty who tried to kill her, then it made sense to me. I have to say, they did get me with that twist, but it fit with what we'd seen very well.

Also, gotta voice my agreement with the concensus: this was a great finale. It's EXACTLY how you should wrap a season when you don't know if you've been renewed. You finish your big plotlines and set up a potential next season. So many shows screw their fans by having huge cliffhangers when they know full well they haven't been renewed.

If Damages gets picked up for a 2nd season, they've got a great storyline to build on (although I have no idea how they could resolve it without writing out one of their 2 leads). And if Damages ends here, they've ended on an extremely satisfying note.

I wish I had the whole series on DVR or something, so I could go back and rewatch some of the earlier episodes, knowing what I know now.

There was also a scene in maybe the 2nd or 3rd episode. I recall Patty having Tom deliver information about Ellen and David to some guy, a "consultant". At the time, we had no idea what this guy was hired to do, it might have been as innocent as finding them a place to live. But I thought this might be the same guy we saw later bugging the apartment.

It was a pleasant surprise to say the least

I loved the way that each episode threw you in a different direction on what happened. The final episode answered a lot of questions.

I still think the shot of Patty Sobbing out of control on the beach is over the top, but she was very consistent all season long.

Ray Fisk was a great character and Danson nailed his Billionare Role as well.
He was likeable and creepy at the proper times.

The only character i feel was underdeveloped is Tom. He is just a lapdog for Patty, and even if he got to be Partner, nothing changed between them. She still has him in the dark.

I hope there is a Season Two, i´ll definitely be watching

This was the best season finale of the year, by far.

Well, there was that gangster show on HBO...

I don't usually enjoy legal thrillers but this was really fantastic, the non-linear plot device really paid off, the show kept throwing possible theories and then pulling the from underneath your feet. I was positive that psycho chick was the one who killed David and it turns out I was wrong, way wrong. The reveal of the killer being a cop was great.

I actually thought the second season would be all about Patty trying to get Ellen Parsons cleared of all charges, I'm glad to see they wrapped it up quick and went in another direction, now we get to see Patty outfox the government.

Glenn Close was just amazing, a truly layered female character you can't really write off as a total bitch, it's going to be great seeing Ellen and Patty square off in a battle of wills. Zelko Ivanek, Ted Danson and Rose Byrbe all did sterling work but it's Glenn Close's show all the way.

That poor old guy screwed himself out of 2 billion.

Payback, it's the big payback. Never has a song been so pitch perfect.
