Warner Home Video has sent over artwork for 1983 film Twilight Zone: The Movie which featured work from directors Steven Spielberg, John Landis, George Miller, and Joe Dante. The film itself will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with English Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo Surround tracks. We have no word on extra material for this one right now, but we'll let you know just as soon as we hear anything. Stay tuned. You'll be able to own this one from the 9th October for $19.97. HD DVD and Blu-ray releases will also be available for around $28.99 a pop

Awesome...finally. Is there any reason in particular why it has taken this long?

Wonder if it will have one of those catchy titles like "The Off With Their Heads Edition".

We all know Dick Peabody has been trying to destroy every copy.

I am assuming it has something to do with the deaths that occurred on set but I never researched it as far as the DVD is concerned. I guess I'll hit google now. Either way, I'm pretty excited for the release. Between this and the Uber Blade Runner edition finally seeing the light of day, today was a good day DVD wise.

I just rented the vhs a few weeks ago, after not having seen it in a long time. It's still as great as I remember. I'm glad that it's finally coming out on dvd. "Let the Midnight Special, shine a light on me"

I was so concerned this film would never be released. It feels like a great weight has been taken off my shoulders.

Yeah, I seriously thought it was going to skip a format. I just got the definitive set of the TV show on dvd, so this will be a great topper, by the time I watch all the seasons...

Holy shit, that's a lot of TV.

I hadn't even realized the extent to which I'd given up on this ever happening. Excellent news. I hope there's a feature that includes some info on how that first segment was supposed to end. I know there's no actual filmed footage (for obvious reasons), but some storyboards or script excerpts would be nice.

Don't have to worry about it having John Landis's Director's Cut.

MikeShayne, just to save you some time, I've worked up your next four posts:

Not the time to lose one's head.

That's not the way to get ahead in life.

It's a shame he wasn't more headstrong.

He'll never be the head of a major corporation.

You're welcome.

No, I was thinking about something more creative than just taking lines from Austin Powers.

Something like... this:

What, you couldn't spare the time to add the heads of a couple of Vietnamese kids in there?

That's just distasteful.

Plus it seems only one of them was decapitated while the other was crushed.

Those of us who are left behind can only wish that you'd been one of them.
