I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. I have to point out that it is Multiple Sclerosis not muscular sclerosis.

Did you mean advice for them, or how other people have dealt with a relative having the disease? My mother was diagnosed at 48 (very late, usually diagnosed in late 20's early thirties). Her MS escalated very rapidly, she was in a wheel chair within a year.

tips
We live in a semi desert and the heat just drained her. So staying in a cool place as much as possible really helps.

In Austraila Beta Zeron or Interferon have passed the trials and are approved for prescriptions, in Canada it should be or is will be soon. I don't about the US. If it's not available I would suggest looking for University trials testing it. I've met people from Austraila who had taken it and it stopped the symptoms from progressing. My mother was on University trials at UBC for years when at the end it turned out she was on the placebo in the test group.

My mother passed away 8 years after diagnosis with complications of MS and Breast cancer.

Good luck, they are studying it around the world and made a lot of advances especially recently. I've done a lot of volunteer work in the past two years and I've been hearing so positive news.
