The Times Online lists the 50 Best movie robots, with a YouTube link showing a clip of each:

Soon to be added: Wall E!

No surprise at #1, though I am surprised to see C3-PO so low on the list.

Oh, sorry...ahem, stupid Times and their stupid lists! I only support CHUD sanctioned lists, dammit!

43: Vectrocon robot spiders (Runaway)

FUCK yeah. First thing that popped in my head when I read the thread title. These fucking things were badass.

How does KITT get on the list? When was Knight Rider a movie? Johnny 5 over C-3PO?
Burt Young wipes his hairy ass with this list.
No, Burt Young finishes a bottle of booze and then drunkenly hurls it at this list (if I recall correctly).

Oh My God! How the fuck could they leave out that one robot that I really think should be on the list?!

actually, i haven't even read the list but i figured this'd come up sooner or later, so...

Someone should let them know that Hal9000 wasn't a robot.

Uh, it's cool that this list exists, I guess...but who ranked this stuff?

This pic should move up C3-PO into the top 5....with the ladies.

Optimus Prime should have been #1.
Hahaha.
Lots of them arent actually movie characters, and I really cant agree with some of the stuff there, especially since it seems entirely arbitrary anyway. No.1 though, I agree But Mechagozilla? and then Optimus Prime below that? I mean.... huh?
Holeeeee shit at number 8.
I thought Sid 6.1 was a computer program?

What ? You (barely) saw the head of the fucking thing and you class it better than the T-1000 or Mechagodzilla ?

Another great Robot is the one that The Commander (Kurt Russell) fought at the beginning of Sky High.
Uh, this list is rather crap. Too many assorted Star Wars droids. Kristanna Loken's Terminatrix being ahead of Metropolis' Maria. Twiki so low on the list.

Also, DALEKS.

It's not as definite as that. HAL is a computer, but he's interfaced with all of the spaceship. Plus, he's AI, which is a bit more than just an electronic abbacus.

The Cylons from Glen A Larson's Battlestar Galactica are also missing from the list. Both the foot soldiers as well as the IL series Lucifer were in the theatrical release.

That was my point. HAL is an AI that happens to be connected to all of the ships functions. That's not by definition a "Robot".
