Air drums, to me, is the least offensive...but the most dangerous to musician and to spectator.

Air oral.

Air keyboards is far and away the nerdiest.

Air Bud barking Christmas carols.

Air drums. Because I can tell you're playing them wrong, whereas with air guitar, I have no idea whether you nailed that Gm7 chord or whatever correctly.

At a Springsteen show, I was once seated behind two huge meatheads who ran through the entire arsenal of air instruments, expanding the art to air sax and air harmonica. It was glorious.

Air drums, because I'm always worried that, when they happen, DaveB is going to ambush some poor moron. "What the fuck do you think a crash cymbal is, jackass?"

Air Guitar, because it invariably causes the offender to pout his lips and make the "DVOOO-DVOOO" sound that must seem like an awesome electric-guitar sound in his head, but in reality just sounds like it's being made by a spastic 2-year-old.

The worst is when the singer of a heavy metal band has nothing to do during the guitar solo, so starts playing air guitar. It's one of the worst things ever. Offenders include the singers for both Testament and Symphony X among others. Terrible.

But as a drummer, I cannot stand air drummers either since they are always all off and wrong about the whole thing. If any of you have ever been to a Rush concert, you would know that hundreds of 43 year old nerds air-drumming is a one way ticket to distracted fury.

Air Drumming and Air Guitar ARE awesome.

I voted for Air Sitar as the worst, because I play both Air Guitar (competently) and Air Drums (incompetently) and I don't care what anyone thinks.

For Steering Wheel Drumming, for those who know their way around a drum kit, which digits do you use for which drum? I think my index fingers are generally the snare and hi-hat, while my thumb does the kick.

Any fan of Jethro Tull that decides to play the air flute.

I enjoy the air theremin, myself, because it's SO CLOSE to the real thing.

Speaking as a Jethro Tull fanatic, I agree with this statement.

Fair point, but I taught myself how to play drums by air drumming while on the toilet.

I'm not joking.

I am SO guilty of playing air guitar at Lollapalooza last night.

So you admit to being a shitty drummer?

I voted for Air Sitar, mostly because I just stumbled across my copy of Wonderwall Music.

I voted air drums, because it is the most physically involved thus most cringe-inducing.

I gotta go w/ air guitar. I used to play the bass, so I know when someone has no clue what they're doing here, much like DaveB does w/ the drums. And EVERYONE thinks they doa cool air guitar. It blows my fuckin' MIND that there's an air guitar videogame out there. Friend of mine once said the world would be a better place if everyone learned how to play a [real] musical instrument. I envision fewer kids doing that now, in favor of this stupid game.

And thus is the world made a worse place. . .

I am NOT a Jethro Tull fan, but I think anyone playing an air flute, even if it's to Men at Work, whom I do like, should be shot on sight.

You're a hard man, Iggy. Hard and harsh.

BTW...what's the general consensus on air bagpipes? Yes? No?

My older brother used to play a mean set of dashboard keys especially during the heyday of Journey and Europe and Bad English and all kinds of other shit.

Air bongos definitely leave you looking the most like a tard (or a drowning yorkshire terrier)
