BEWARE... the JubJub Bird!

Created a 2-minute-long short film (I did the voices & puppeteering, did most of the camera-work, edited it, mixed the audio, and created all the graphics) a couple weekends ago for a contest (deadline 8/1) sponsored by a puppet manufacturer.

Here are the contest details and judges (co-director of Shrek 2, a bunch of famous ventriloquists, etc).

The entries are here (mine's #62).

For a slightly better view of my film, look here.

To see the original "too risqué for the contest" edit, look here.

There's still some tweaks I want to make, but this is the version I was able to get done for the deadline (especially considering I was asked on the due date to make it more family-friendly and change the ending).

That's pretty funny dude. "Jerkface of the forest" made me laugh.

I also laughed at how you keep dipping in and out of the Australian accent.

Thanks, mate!

What accent?

HA!
Shame they didn't allow that ending dialogue. I had to think pretty fast on my feet to change the end, re-edit it, re-render it, re-upload it to youtube, and re-submit it the day it was due.

Thanks for watching guys! I figured a couple minutes isn't a huge time-investment, but it's nice to see the support/response.

It was cute. Editing was a little shaky and the sound mixing got a bit muddled in places but otherwise it was fairly solid. Good stuff!

Cute. The puppet was nice looking too. Your accent came in and out though.

Nice work. I was waiting for you to wade in with a baseball bat at the end.

Yeah, I'm planning on going back in and clarifying a few things, sound-wise especially. I was using Vegas for everything and it got a little choppy trying to view it in the program (not sure if it was my CPU's power or if the clips were too big). Exporting it every time to get a better idea of the final product was a major pain, so I kinda "winged it" a little. But I've been jotting down a bunch of notes for fixes and plan on investing in a better pair of headphones as well.

Thanks again guys!

New development:

Ronn Lucas: "I will invite the 1st place winner in each category to perform in a Las Vegas show as my guest star!"

Probably gives an edge to the ventriloquists that entered, oh well...

Winners announced tomorrow!

Nice, so that's $250 in puppets and magic? What does that buy you?

I hope that dolphin is squirting out KY. The blowhole looks a little worn.

Congrats, Travis! Your daughter's going to be spoiled silly by all the puppets, eh?

Yeah, she's 3 and we have a blast with the ones I have at home. We sneak down behind the couch or throw a blanket over the baby-gates in the doorways and "entertain" my wife.

Burning acid napalm KY... of death.

From a strictly entertainment perspective that was great. Excellent timing and well paced. The birds reaction to the jerkface line was perfect.

Really, really well done. (Nice use of background sounds, as well)

Received my Turtle puppet prize (what I finally picked out with my award credit before it expired) last month, and I have to say, it's a pretty friggin' cool puppet. Already formulating ideas for this year's contest.
