There certainly one of the more interesting groups to have come out Britain this year. Their sound is fairly pedestrian, Snow Patrol by way of Explosions In The Sky, but their songs are saved by the gorgeous vocals of the lead singer. His Glaswegian brogue and black as night lyrics really make the band seem like something special.

If you're interested their Myspace has examples of their work, I'd recommend She Would Darken and That Summer At Home...as starting points song wise.

Spike, I love you to death and your a cool guy but sometimes you sound so much like a write-up in Rolling Stone I want to punch you.

Also, haven't gone to check out their page yet, but I will say that their name is SHIT.

Unfortunately, in music terms at least, I haven't got the scope to discuss bands properly. So I just try and get the information across as concisely as possible.

And yes the name is utterly terrible, I mentioned I was seeing the band to someone at work and had to put up with a weeks worth of abuse over it.

I like the tunes.

And pointing to 2 random words in the dictionary would probably get you a name better than Twilight Sad.

Bad name or not, I am a fan. Their debut has been on heavy rotation on my mp3 player (it doubles as my jukebox and car stereo). I agree with the praise for the singers voice, ( and right thick accent!) but I love the shoegaze tendencies of the music as well.

If you haven't already Spike, I suggest listening to their s/t EP as well, which features my favorite song of their currently, 3 Seconds of Dead Air.

Twilight Sad and Lucky Soul are the two good bads that I've discovered this year, that are plague by really awful names. Lucky Soul is a much worse name than Twilight Sad, but they are a much better band.
