I'm going to go see this and yell things at the screen.

"Girl, don't you get married!"

And so forth.

So my ex girlfriend will have something to watch when Oprah and Dr. Phil are in reruns.

No more. Please.

If Tyler Perry had been more visible back then, I don't think Apartheid would've ended.

I could probably pull off Native American. The switch is definitely on October 12th.

So we won't be seeing the latest Tyler Perry joint together?

Cut to opening day, Micah and I are sitting in the theater.

"How did this happen?"

"I don't know. Shut up."

"And get all those napkins off your Johnson!"

I feel your pain Micah, but the bottom line is this: As long as Tyler Perry's plays and Movies keep turning big profits on low budgets, he has no reason to change his hustle. I've come to see him as the Master P of Black theater and cinema.

The formula existed back in the 80's/early 90's too. I used to see this trailer all the time because it was before Mr. Frost:

I love the softening filter they used for the Cabin scenes. Looks like a black version of the "Last Christmas" Wham video.

Tyler Perry's dialogue should be considered lethal weapons.

Isn't 100 episodes of his awful TBS sitcom enough? What will it take to make this man stop? A human sacrifice?

Nice things to say about this trailer.

-It looks better than Perry's other stuff. One reason is probably no Madea.

-These may be mostly third rate actors (well, except for the mighty Spawn), but some of them really have a huge following with Perry's audiences. Richard T. Jones may not be a household name, but I bet tons of ladies are seeing this at the multiplex and going, "Oh, my Richard!" I really don't know what they actually say, though.

-Jill Scott is a wonderful voice, and there's a chance that she has a wonderful onscreen persona too. I can noly assume she's here because she has another album to hawk.

-Michael Jai White takes good care of himself.

Other Perry movies/video series I am looking forward to:

Tyler Perry's White People Do This, Black People Do That

Tyler Perry's Pimpin' Ain't Easy, and its sequel, Tyler Perry's Let a Ho Be a Ho!

Tyler Perry's Guide to Parenting: I Think I Messed My Drawers

Tyler Perry's America: Aks Not What Your Country Can Do For You

Tyler Perry Motivates! The 'I'm Fiddin' To!' Chronicles

Tyler Perry's Remember 'Da Maine (ill advised historical epic)

Interestingly, Percy 'The Ghetto Orson Welles' Miller is these days actually stealing wholesale from the Tyler Perry playbook...

This would have been more interesting had the cast included Jaleel White rather than Michael Jai White.

Shortly before reading your article, I found this on another site and had to share it, as it cracked me up and reminded me of the constant name-checking in CHUD's archival articles on Stan Winston.

Like Tyler Perry's version of Alan Alda's The Four Seasons, Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? takes us through the the tribulations of marriage and vacationing like only Tyler Perry can: in the third-person possessive. Like everything Tyler Perry touches, Tyler Perry's trailer for Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? looks to be pure Tyler Perry's gold, proving Tyler Perry still has the Tyler Perry's Midas touch.

The film stars Tyler Perry's Janet Jackson, Tyler Perry's guy who played Spawn, and Tyler Perry.

I was all set to join in the chorus of derision, but I have to cut Michael Jai White a break. Got to pay the rent somehow until someone greenlights Spawn 2.
