This Is Not Goodbye

Thread Starter
but I'm going to have to reduce my time on the boards for a bit. Work lately has been insane, and I need to get focused on what I really need to do. I've decided to do something that I've been talking about for years, but because of my lazy nature have never gotten around to starting. I'm going to write a novel. I don't care if it sucks. I hope it doesn't, but either way, I'm going to finish one. I figure 3-4 pages a day for 6 months or so should get me where I want to go.

If you see me lurking around, I'll just be catching up with people, but try to throw a "Get the fuck out of here" my way, at least until I finish the damn thing. If I can perhaps finish something, and get myself into the proper discipline, maybe this will be the creative turnaround I've been looking for.

I'm not pulling a Fabfunk, I swear. I'll be back. I just need to do this.

Good luck.

All the best, man. I admire your determination and wish I had the balls and the drive to do the same. Hope it all turns out good for you.

Now fuck off and don't come back 'til March.

Can't wait to read the novel! Good luck, Alan! Stay focused - Stephen King writes something along the lines of 1,000 words+ a day when he's working on a novel (I think that's the number), so if you're discipling yourself to 3-4 pages a day, you'll do more than fine.

Write your novel about dinosaurs. Dinosaurs are awesome.
Get out! And don't come back....until you've redeemed yourself.

(also, the best of luck.)

Good luck,

It will be a shame to see less of you but all the best.

Goodluck sir.

Good luck
Don't give up.

Good luck! Hope your frustrations stay to the minimum and that you have fun with this task. Congratulations on actually taking the initiative to create something!

Best of luck, sir. I've been attempting something similar and it's been incredibly fulfilling and frustrating.

It... it feels like "goodbye".

*tears begin trickling down face*

Get the fuck out of here!

Seriously, best of luck with the project.

Write about a man waking up too early from cryo-sleep on a journey through space; I have a feeling this idea will be big in the near future. You can't go wrong.
Good luck. I know I'm mostly a lurker, but I always enjoyed your posts, and wondered if I ever ran into you at various DVD shops or theatres around town.
Good luck, and don't steal my idea about time traveling humans from a war-torn future invading the past (which is our present day) for our precious resources. DON'T!

Good luck, I applaud your decision to write the great american novel or any novel, now go away and shut yourself in a room for 6 months and come out barely holding your sanity but comfortable in the knowledge that you finished your novel.
Good luck, soldier!
Good luck, and try to describe me as a slightly older Brad Pitt.

Okay, a slightly younger Brad Garrett.

There ain't no word in Sioux for "goodbye."
Good luck, and congratulations in advance on the novel.
I can't wait til you're frustrated finding character names and we end up following the stories of Brad Slater. Devin Kint. Jacob Fabfunk.
If your novel even remotely rips-off Stephen King or Chuck Palahniuk I'll punch your arsehole off.

Don't get too fucking wordy, either.

Good luck, we'll look forward to you popping up sooner than expected with words of wisdom.
Rock and roll. Be sure to have a beer on Fridays to commemorate a good week of writing...whether you wrote a fucking word or not.

Now scoot. See you in the spring.

Giving myself a deadline always seems to light a fire under my ass (if you need that motivation).

Finding a contest with a reasonable (or not) finish line gives you something to shoot for, whether you enter or not.

Good luck!

Nord I wish you well. Do what has to be done and return with more force, power and hilarity than ever before.

Good journey!
Damn... that's something I've been saying I'm gonna do for the past 10 years. Go for it! Just don't steal any of my ideas.

FREE BOOK IDEAS:

1) Title: "Everything's all upside down and mixed-up": A quirky white fellow goes on a journey of self discovery. Possibly through Europe.

2) Title: "Icy Streets, Metal Steel": A group of ex-cons who grew up together in the Bronx come together for one last heist in this hard-boiled tale of revenge. Fill this one up with lots of swears!

3) Title: "The Dragonmaster Chronicles: Saga I, Book I: The Dark Sword of Dragonshine": In the magical land of Arabelle, a young man with a mysterious mark on his shoulder embarks on a quest of danger and mystery against unsurmountable odds. It's the classic battle of good versus evil. He turns out to be "the chosen one" (because of the mysterious mark).

4) Title: "The Irishman": The uplifting coming-of-age tale of an Irish Catholic boy growing up in Limerick during the potato famine. Colorful characters like the drunken father, the child-beating uncle, a trio of lecherous priests, and the angry ghost of his dead mother will make this book a sure cure for the blues.

Godspeed Alan, good luck on your novel. I think all those years of Penthouse letters have prepared you well.
or my idea

"I Hate Reading Your Thoughts."

It's all about how to tell people to fuck off. 425 Pages of lines beginning with "You know why I fucking hate you..."
No disrepsect but wouldn't that just be also known as The Devin Faraci Story?
Goddamn it. Another idea already done.
Well you could always work something hoodie related.

The Fantastic Adventures of Dr. Hoobert Hoodzon and His Amazing Shrinkalyzer.

That's fantastic, could be the next Harry Potter. Get workin' on that and the great corporate marketing machine will pave the way!

Alan "Nordling" Cerny, Good luck creating many Novel Ideas...Don't get too booked though, writing can get very tiring.
Duke Fleed, don't you have a book idea you should be working on?

And what's the point of even posting in this thread? Alan "Nordling" Cerny is not here to read it. Or at least he better not be.
R-Lu, Alan did say he might be lurking. I thought he would want a good bye pun til at least next time...whenever that may be.
Anybody red any good books recently?
Duke fleed, you're a girl.

I just want my own personal duke fleed reply, really.
Good luck Alan. The only advice I have to offer is that it takes a New Jack cop to take down a New Jack gangster. As soon as you realize that the better off you'll be.
Alan, on a messageboard populated by people I know absolutely nothing about, you're one of the coolest.

Good Luck.
