It's a nice list.

But, has Target bought them or something? It seems like they're developing a weird distribution with that chain of stores.

When the 2 disc edition of Once Upon a Time in the West is in Wal-Mart 5 dollar bins everywhere, and has been on sale at Circuit City for $3.99, this list is poo.

Or maybe they're saving that one for a "Ten Great Films You Can Buy For Under Five Bucks" list.

So they're really running out of ideas for new movie lists, aren't they?

Next up: Ten Best Movies Where a Dog Pees On Somebody.

Does Transformers count?

Also, although I found out about the movie years ago, it's still kinda surreal knowing that Sam Raimi directed a western starring Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Russell fuckin' Crowe and Leonardo friggin' DiCaprio.

Most movies that are 10+ years old and not either Oscar-winners or TV classics are going to be around $10 or less, so it's not like it was hard for them to find ten good DVDs that aren't in high demand. That said, Color of Money is pretty underrated and Big Trouble in Little China might possibly be the best movie ever.

It's not hard at all to find great movies for under a Hamilton. Hell, every Mark Dacascos movie I own was well under $10.

This phrase sends a chill down my spine.

I'm pretty sure when I bought ONLY THE STRONG I threw down a ten-spot and had enough change to grab a bag of Funyuns and a pack of Hubba Bubba.
I didn't realize he had a career after Double Dragon.

That's a magic combination. No making out for you that night, I guess.
Greg, have you seen ONLY THE STRONG? The school district may have hired Dacascos to teach the kids capoeira, he wound up teaching them about life.

That sounds like a dropped subplot from a Substitute sequel.

Dropped?

Richard Dreyfuss can do that. If I'm watching Dacascos, I'd better see someone get their sunglasses broken just from almost getting hit. That's a lesson kids really need.

Do you own Drive? I had to pay like 16$ for it, and it's a tough one to find.
I got DRIVE about a year ago, I believe through Deepdiscount for under a tenner. But that one is harder and harder to find cheap these days so I can see why it didn't make the cut for this IFC list.
The SE of Escape from New York, the one with the comic book, has made it's way to the $5 bin at Wal-Mart. Along with: Marked for Death, High Tension, American Psycho SE, T-2 Extreme. Lots of cheap double dips. My local Wal-Mart is on my way home from work, so I always stop by at least once a week and dig in the bin early. Fuck the HD format war, embrace bargin bin value.

Where can I find a copy of Nashville for under ten bucks?

Holy shit, ONLY THE STRONG? I remember seeing a trailer for that back in '93 and I wondering what in the hell was that?
I'll tell you what the hell it is, the best goddamn capoeira film you're likely to find for under $10. That's what the hell it is!
Pssh, I'd rather take that ten bucks and get a piccana sammich from the Brazillian joint across the street. That's a good use of ten bucks.

Terrible decision.

You eat that sandwhich, it gives you a case of the flaming shits, and soon the experience is over.

You buy Only The Strong, you've got a lifetime of entertainment.

I have the European version, which is the unfucked-with cut. It's harder to find, and probably more expensive, but it's definitely worth it. It's also all-region, which is nice.

What's different? Longer fight scenes?
I don't think the fight scenes are different. There's a discarded sub-plot about Toby's dead girlfriend who's the reason he's on the run. A lot of the music is different, as the director clashed with the studio on that; they wanted a lot of hip music that degraded any feeling of danger he wanted to convey. It really does kind of change the tone, too.

It's under six dollars at BlahDVD with free shipping, if anyone wants to check it out.

And while you're at it, if you've got a DVD player that plays Region 2, why not get the Spaced 3-Disc Box Set for 30 bucks?

I bought my new copies of Reservoir Dogs and Sense & Sensibility at the same time at an f.y.e. store last year, and the total for both movies was somewhere around $15.00.
Mind you this is the 10 year anniversary not the gas can version of Resevoir Dogs we're talking about here.
Yes, mine's the 10 year anniversary edition, too. Two movies, $15 total for both.
