i don't see what the big fuss is all about. sure, fabfunk posts some nasty shite from time to time (and this isnt even one of them) but you can easily just ignore him or avoid the thread. why the hate? there are a million other things outside in the real world much more worthy of your hate and/or energy. When fabfunk was a regular poster his genuinely good movie-related-thread-to-porn-related-thread ratio was about 4/1. I could live with that, considering most of those movie posts were pretty damn good, Iron Man fake trailer notwithstanding. Pornobsession is weird, but fabfunk pileups are way more irksome.

Seriously now. It's one thing to dogpile the Funker just for starting a thread, it's completely another to take him for task for taking such a bizarre and untenable position on sexual politics. His assertion that Brewer was some kind of misogynist was paper-thin, and said far more about his sexual hang-ups than anything film-related.

Put it this way: if Don Imus started talking to yuo about the negative racial stereotyping of Winston in GHOSTBUSTERS, would you engage him in conversation about it or point out what a ridiculous point it was for him to try and make?

Yes. A little. There comes a point where you have to say "sure, I could discuss this with you, but I'd have to ignore slews of prior knowledge about your attitude in order for this debate to feel even remotely worthwhile". I guess I - and others, it seems - don't like engaging in conversation with someone so clearly out-of-whack with themselves.

That, and I thought his initial point was pretty much bullshit. In case you didn't read the thread, fabfunk's assertion about Brewer's depiction of prostitutes was pretty extensively discussed in amongst the Chewer psychoanalysis.

It also felt like FF was trying to get people to admit that they thought prostitution and pornography were equatable, so that he could play some imaginary "holy shit you're so wrong" card. Which was weird.

Good lord, quit acting like Don Imus is the grand wizard of the ku klux klan.

He said an offhand comment/joke that he didn't mean as a racist comment but people blew it waaaaay out of proportion, and almost all my black friends agree with me.

Fabfunk, however...he deserves the hate. We hate because of these annoying ass threads, it's like hating Patrick Ripoll for his opinion on women or something, the difference being he has moments of brilliance. We don't agree with Fabfunk, and with these kind of threads, how do we know he isn't doing this deliberately to cause a pileup. Maybe he likes it.
