Inspirational music?

I'm writing a script from an idea me and my friends have been talking about for three years. We don't have title yet, but I have the main characters and the basic plot points figured out.

I usually compile a list of songs and listen to it to get into the right mood when I write. The tone I'm looking for is similar to the first half of The Deerhunter. Currently I've got is a few tracks by Jose Gonzalez and Explosions in the Sky. Now I need recommendations from you all.

This is gonna sound harsh, but it seems like you're just being lazy in the creative department.

At this point all you have are the main characters and the basic plot points figured out, you know the tone you're looking for is similar to The Deer Hunter, and already you're asking a bunch of total strangers to help you get inspired? If you can't inspire yourself, then you've got bigger problems than what kind of music you should be listening to while you write.

Besides, your script should dictate your music choices, not us.

He's not asking us to dictate, he's asking for suggestions. In this business, that's sometimes the only way to find the next avenue to go down, creative-wise. But I've noticed you've got a running habit of acting like a dick, so explaining this probably won't do any good.

I think you're taking my initial request a bit too seriously. I'd write the thing even if I were deaf. However I'm not and I like listening to music while I write. So instead of opening the radio and killing my ears with the TOP 40-shit, I'm asking for music suggestions from people who visit a message board I dig.

Fair enough, but Lily Allen is probably the best suggestion you're going to get based on what little information you've given.

"I Believe I Can Fly"

It's by far the most inspirational song on the Space Jam soundtrack. It also goes great with 'Senior Memories' slideshows.

Is it because I'm a masochist or is it because I love CHUD that I find myself laughing at my own thread even though none of the replies have been helpful?

I'll simplify:

IF MAN LISTEN TO JOSE GONZALEZ AND EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY WHAT ELSE MUSIC HE LIKE?

As someone else who listens to music while he writes, I'd actually love to help you out, but I haven't even heard of either of those.

Thanks anyway, man. I picked those artists from the Friday Night Lights -thread and I'm damn glad I did. I've mostly done some horror and crime stuff and I'm trying to expand my range as a writer. I figured I could update my record shelf in the process since I haven't really been getting into new music for a long time. I guess what I'm looking for is some acoustic and "airy" music that doesn't suck balls. I don't know what genre you can call that.
