CHUD.com and its message board are great places to hang out, get information and talk movies. It’s the movies that ostensibly bind this whole thing together, but there is something more. We talk about a vast array of topics here; but why do we talk about them here and not some other, more focused site?
Is it because we are movie people? You find a group that have similar tastes in one area and presume that it will carry over to others? Is it the snark? We have plenty of that to go around.
I was pointed here in 2001 because Gracie couldn’t stand me going on and on about FOTR. I needed someone to get excited with, share the pictures that came out on a daily basis. To Geek Out as it were.
I love movies though I don’t nearly have the time, or money, that I used to be able to spend to keep up. Most of the movies I watch now are on cable, which is great because I love older films. When I was young I wanted to direct. We made movies when we were 10 and 11 years old. We had a Black and White camera and a VCR plugged into an extension cord and made our versions of Smoky and the Bandit and CHiPs. I still want to direct, but that ship has sailed.
I’d love to write for the site. A DVD review once in a while or something, but I never have the time.
I’m not sure what my point is, but that’s why I post at Chud. Just to be here with my people.
