Nerjyzed Entertainment, Inc., a privately held, African American owned digital entertainment company, announced today the launch of its new sports videogame, Black College Football Experience. An authentic, action-packed football game created using the Unreal 3.0 engine, BCFx is a cultural experience that puts players and fans into the heart of black college football. The game will be supported by a 12-week promotional road tour to HBCU campuses, Classics and homecoming games. BCFx will be available for the PC this November.
There's a trailer on the game's official site, but it doesn't show any gameplay footage.

Looks like EA's NCAACP '08 is going to have some competition.

What's Black College Football? Are the Negro Leagues back in effect in the US?

Black College Footbal is another name for the the Southwestern Athletic Conference and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, which are division 1-AA. In order to further the cause of segregation, SWAC and MEAC teams do not participate in the year-end national championship tournament, instead ending their seasons with their own championship game, which they refer to as the Black College Football National Championship.

Edit: The MEAC andd SWAC are made up of HBCUs, or Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

So, only blacks play there or is it that those schools are mostly attended by whites?

So, it's like "accepted" segregation?

No it's not segregation at all. Anyone can attend.

As far as the football games are concerned, other than the off the field activities and atmosphere it's no different than Division I NCAA.

Here's a link to the games website.

Except for how it actually is Division 1. They just separate themselves instead of participating.

By accepted, I meant that is seems like the blacks voluntarily accept to be separated when attending these colleges. Maybe I don't understand any of it, I am not familiar with the american school system.

For the longest time, these were the only colleges blacks could get into. It wasn't like they started out as deliberately exclusionary.

That I understand. I just find it very strange that in 2007 there is someting called Black College Football. It seems to me like it encourages voluntary segregation.
Blacks weren't just going to give up the institutions and traditions they started during segregation just because it finally ended.

Women shoulda followed suit.

(just kidding ladies)

I misread this at first and thought it was going to be about a Black College Experience Sim. Only then could you experience being the only black student in your class and being singled out as a representative of your race from the comfort of your own home.

Silliness aside, do you realize how few black students are actually at many universities? So rather than feel isolated and add another unnecessary level of anxiety to college life many black students choose HBCUs. They educate a large portion of the black middle class and I think they serve an important purpose.

Good point. The black population here at UA is only about 12% of the student body.

There's also a matter of location. I grew up right down the street from Alabama A&M in a predominantly black area of town, and I know a lot of kids ended up there because not only was it in town, but it was in the neighborhood. There's another HBCU here in Tuscaloosa (Stillman College) that I imagine is the same way as it's located on the west side of town, which is predominantly black.
