McNiven better fucking win.

What I'd like to know is, why is "30 Days of Night" the only HORROR comic on that list? ULTIMATE SUPERMAN? FANTASTIC FOUR? Great books, for what they are, but THEY AIN'T HORROR! I'm totally with Brian on this. This will be a waste.

The Prestige is considered sci-fi?

yeah because of its science and fiction
I haven't seen the movie.

They should rename this the Spike "Whatever the fuck came out in the last year or so that dudes probably like" Awards.

Sad thing is, there are some good picks in all those categories that will be trounced by the likes of 300. Because it's Spike. I'd like to know who's presenting, to see if they have anything to rival the Grindhouse gals from last year.

They should just call it the Fanboy Awards.
The first destroyed all horror credibility by having emo fave "My Chemical Romance" close the show.

I don't expect much from this one either.
Apparently awards shows no longer have deal with subjects from any certain year. Snakes on a Plane? Are we really still talking about Snakes on a Plane?
In a setup like this, the films that win are the films that the most people have seen. End of story.
This list is horrendous. When Transformers inevitably wins Best Sci-Fi Movie over the likes of The Fountain and Children of Men, my soul will die. Then it'll take another kick to the nuts when Heroes wins over BSG and Lost.

I'm going to interview the scream awards producer...hopefully in the next few days so if you guys have any questions you might want (Seriously) let's hear them and I'll try and ask em.
The MOST VILE VILLIAN category is pathetic.

Vidal, all the way.
I know it's hard to ask tough honest questions without coming off like an asshole, but if you could find some kind of way to question the obvious irrelevance of this show, that'd be great.

The people vote for these types of award shows, and we all know that the people are fucktards.

we could vote.
Yeah, but I think the fucktards that would vote for Transformers over Children of Men out number us.
Ask why they aren't more selective with their nominations.

I found this pretty funny, Thomas Jane drunk?

I'm going to remain optimistic about Scream 07. For the most part, I enjoyed last years show so I'm not so jaded about Scream. How's this for a possible serious question: What is the established criteria for a film to be nominated?

I'd like to hear the answer to that one straight from the horses mouth. I can't see the rhyme or reason in these nomination choices, they seem fairly random. Surely it must be more involved then box office bucks and fancy CGI. (I'm hoping)

if you want to hear it straight from the horses mouth, you should read the interview I conducted with the show's producer.

Ok, here's what I thought about the show. I had a great time there. The show was less about who won, and more about just having a great time with people who love horror.

I think Kevin is trying to tell us something with his spelling error. Kevin, if Michael Bay is at your house right now... misspell something again, and I'll call the police.

I liked the show. It was goofy. It was rockin. It had Jessica Biel in an LBD. It had a gargoyle. It ended with Alice Cooper in full-on "we're not worthy" mode. I liked what I saw enough to feel a slight twinge of bummed-ness that I wasn't there. That's honestly the first time I've ever felt that watching any award show.

Next time, though, can we do without the geek shout-outs? I'd appreciate that.

Actually, they should call it The Two Hour Advertisement For Upcoming Genre Films Show. That was really pathetic.

Although I do find it hilarious that they're trying to slip the fact that Sweeney Tod is a musical past everyone.

I guess I respectfully disagree that the show was a two hour ad for upcoming movies. They dedicated less than 10 minutes to showing never before aired footage of four movies. One of which was by Neil Gaiman, who was accepting an award for being an icon. I had similar attitude toward the show before it aired and before I knew anything about how the process worked. Maybe you didn't actually watch it? Its cool if that is the case. Talking about stuff without knowing anything about it can get you pretty far...maybe even the White House!
They said they were giving Neil Gaiman a lifetime acheivement award or something, but it sure looked to me like they were bringing Neil Gaiman onstage to present a Beowulf trailer. I watched the first hour, for what it's worth.

I don't know if your read my article about the event but it was fucked up when half the audience got up and left before the Alice Cooper performance. Talk about pathetic. I had never seen Cooper perform live before and with Slash and Rob Zombie, it was pretty amazing and pretty loud. It was cool when Alice Cooper came out and they through him in the guillotine. When Rob Zombie came out and belted out the second verse I was flippin' out. The Greek Theater is a pretty cool place. It is outdoors and surrounded by trees. It was just a really fun time regardless of who won what. The performers seemed to have a good time there, the celebs seemed to have a good time, tarantino seemed to have a REALLY good time, and the people I've talked to who actually watched it said they had a good time. I'm sure some of the energy gets lost in the broadcast but your comments are dead on...it was pretty rockin'.

Yeah it is cool, you just kind of have it backwards. He had been awarded that Comicon Icon award months ago by the producers of the show who gave out a couple of different discretionary awards including the Rock Immortal Award to Alice Cooper. I guess since Alice Cooper wasn't promoting his new golf book or a cd that maybe those awards the producers gave out were more about honoring legends and less about making money. They let Gaiman show his footage since he was already going to be there to collect the award and since he is Neil Gaiman, he can do whatever he wants. Who knows, maybe Harrison Ford was selling his new demo out the back of his Escalade or something.

The nominees in the other categories, of course, weren't picked based on promoting other shit either since they were determined by an 18 member advisory board that included Eli Roth, Wes Craven, Rob Zombie, and several more film legends as well as journalists and even some internet writers. So actually, the show was about honoring film and comic books and not about selling new stuff to people. Just wanted to clear that up.
