"THE SIMPSONS ISN'T AS GOOD AS IT USED TO BE."

Moving past that dead horse, the new Simpsons game looks good. The inclusion of comic book guy as the "video game cliche monitor" might be fun, although I'm hoping that this thing doesn't get too gimmicky.

It apparently has a level based on the "world" of Mr. Sparkle, and the floating head himself makes an appearance. YES, PLEASE!
It might be fun, but it's not going to be funny.Just re-release the Simpsons Arcade game already.
Yeah, I was going to say...shots of the game I've seen just look like an advanced version of the arcade game...which was pretty damn fun from what I remember. The team-up attacks were the best.
I'm sure the Simpson's arcade game will get an Xbox Arcade release just like the Turtle one did to coincide with the game. It seems like the perfect time.
Also, I have no proof... just wild speculation.

Calm down, fishbulb.

The Road Rage game on the PS2 wasn't bad. I'm sorta looking forward to this one, I guess.

Was Road Rage the one that was like crazy taxi or the one that was like GTA?
The GTA one was "Hit and Run." Which was okay. Though, when your standard of comparison is "Bart vs. The Space Mutants," the bar for "okay" is set pretty low.
the one that was like GTA.

According to the trailer, it'll be available on all platforms... EVER MADE!

I loved Bart vs. The Space Mutants when I was a kid, however I played it recently and wanted to pull my fucking hair out at how difficult and just plain awful it was.Jumping from chocolate bar to chocolate bar is not fun.
I actually played Bart vs.Space Mutants when I was young as well. I have vague memories of having to spray paint things red...is that the game?
Yes, the first level is about having to spray paint all things purple. The Angry Video Game nerd takes a look at that game and other Simpson's NES games over at Gametrailers.

For the most part with the exception of the arcade game, Road Rage (Which was fun playing against roomates) and the GTA knockoff (Which was pretty good despite some pain in the ass moments). All the other simpsons games sucked pretty badly.
I think "Hit and Run" is way more than just 'okay'. I like it a lot. Gets really frustrating in some of the later levels, though.
Yeah although there was a feature which after trying numerous times you could skip over that particular mission. Frankly I just don't have the patience or interest to try and make it to 100%.

No.
YOU'VE HAS FOUND INTERNET FORUM CLICHE. In Soviet Union, cliche makes fun of you.

20 points
Seriously, you actually would WANT to have the most obnoxious, overused character from the show spouting annoying catchphrases at you throughout the game? Are you shitting me?

If it's gimmicky and annoying, then it's gimmicky and annoying. I doubt it's going to make or break anything.

It'll be really gimmicky and annoying.

But hey, that's the show for you.
Apparently the final boss is Matt Groening.

Only Simpsons game I've played was Hit & Run; it was kind of fun for a while.

Actually, I did play Simpsons Wrestling on the PS1 for about 20 minutes too. It was rather non-good.
I loved Hit & Run, and I'm not even a Simpsons fan. It was even occasionally funny!

Don't know how the game will turn out, but the trailers have been great:

Hit and Run could have been great if there was more interaction with Springfield and it's residents, and if it had been cel shaded. As it stands it's the best Simpsons game so far, which really isn't saying all that much.

It's better than the arcade game, which was the greatest thing ever when it came out. Much like the Turtles arcade game, it hasn't held up that well.
PS3 store has the demo for the new Simpsons Game. Looks nice, but the camera isn't that great.
I really don't see The Simpsons game coming out for XBLA. Konami made that game, and EA has the rights to Simpsons games. Whereas Konami still has the rights to the Turtles series, allowing for the Arcade Game to be released (UbiSoft has the rights to the recent TMNT CG movie).

Do I got all that right? Or is it possible for the code of a game go from one rightsholder to another? Either way, I need me some Simpsons/X-Men arcade like NOW.
This game looks pretty much like shit.
The game looks pretty good, actually. The controls, however? Absolutely fucking busted. Anyone who's beaten that demo knows what I'm talking about.

I got all the 3 cliches.... the invisible wall, the easy boss attack point, and the character who can't swim. (sigh...)

The game's more frustrating than anything, although I actually have to admit the voicework is very well done and made me chuckle a bit.

I've never thought the Simpsons characters translate well to 3D. They use too many cheats in the design and animation for viewing and turning the characters on the show, that when they're translated, they look stiff, weird and unappealing.

Plus, this looks like nothing more than an average-at-best platformer with the lousier elements of the Simpsons humor from the past ten years.
To beat the Donut guy in the demo, you have to work with Homer and Bart to take him down. He's got 3 spots on his back that when you shoot with Bart's slingshot, panels open up, and you have to jump in there and hit Y to rip out wires or whatever. The problem is that the last 2 panels are too high to jump onto, so you have to use Bart to jump from the top of a building. When you do, it's a bitch to get the guy to turn around because Homer's usually running around like a fucking idiot right below you and getting lasers shot at him. There's no apparent way to tell someone to stay put when you switch to another character, so you're stuck waiting for the monster to turn around so you can shoot him in the back, and then pray you have enough time to get to that panel before it closes back up and you have to do it all over again. Plus, lots of times you'll float down there (as Bartman) and miss it, or get on it and slide off because of the floaty controls.

It's garbage. But then again, what would anyone expect from a Simpsons game?

You've got a point with that. It's all very shiny and pretty looking, though, so it's easy to look past how weird they look. Some surprisingly nice fire effects, too, when Homer belches it for example.

What a pain in the ass demo. Awful camera and controls. Some of Brockman's commentary and in-jokes were funny but that's par for the course. It also looks like the characters keep the same crappy abilities in every level in the preview, which kind of defeats the appeal of switching between various genres.

Actually, you can just lure Lard Lad to one of the many busted fire hydrants in the game and use those to float onto his robot panels. Doesn't make the demo good, but it's easier.

Sad to hear it handles like shit, I had semi high hopes.

I like the tentacle rape Wii version.
What I played of the demo looked pretty enough but, holy crap, the camera was 48 kinds of awful. And since beating the boss is apparently a pain in the ass, this hunk will be deleted the next time I fire up my machine.

I do like how everyone is enjoying Homer's tentacle rape. Classy.
I thought the demo was pretty bad but compared to the rest awful games with the Simpson's name attached to them this could have been a lot worse.
The hell do chocolate rabbits have to do with the DS?
Played the PS3 demo--the game looks great, but beating the boss fucking sucks. I got the first two panels down in a decent amount of time, but I could never get LL in the right position so I could jump onto the final panel. And it just got annoying after trying to do that for 30 minutes.

I think the real problem with the demo is there's no real "game play". You get dumped right into fighting a boss. There's no working up to that point. Granted, it's an open environment, and you can run around all you want, but the specter of having to beat the boss is there instantly.

By contrast, I played the Conan demo, and at least got to fight a bunch of bad guys before fighting the three "tough" guys at the end of the demo.

What the fuck is wrong with EA that they can't build a decent camera system? This has some serious Resident Evil shit in it, which completely fucks up a roaming platformer; when I walk into a room the camera shouldn't suddenly flip 180 degrees. Same goes for when I'm walking in a semi-obscured area, and instead of nudging and swinging around obstacles, the lens just flips. Fucking asinine.

It's unbelievable and maddening that a standardized camera system hasn't been universally implemented. That a game has camera problems in 2007 is unforgivable.
Think I'll give this a try when it gets to the bargain bins.

I wouldn't recommend it. I've been playing for a few hours and really hate this game now. Will review for the main page in a day or so.
do they at least acknowledge death by camera/annoyance with camera as one of the hidden cliches?
If so, I haven't come across it yet.
