"Big Brother" - Kanye West

So, I dunno how many people here like Kanye, but, if you picked up or have somehow heard his new album...

Wow, is this song ("Big Brother") really odd or what?

A whole song dedicated to Jay-Z?

I can get a verse praising him, but AN ENTIRE SONG about how much he admires and loves Jay-Z?

That's... yeah, "odd".

He's a spoiled hack cunt.

I liked the track a lot. Being a huge Jay-Z fan, I found it interesting to hear a few snippets of the 'behind the scenes' incidents between him and Kanye.

I don't think it's a BAD song, but I couldn't help but think "REALLY?" when I started understanding what the song's about.

It's kinda like a companion to "Last Call".

Exactly, and I really like it. It's a personal song. People always claim that rappers never rap "about" anything, then when they do, people act like it's odd. Kanye West sort of owes his career to Jay-Z, yet he was also held back by the Roc-a-Fella camp for a lot of years. One, the behind-the-scenes insights are pretty interesting to fans of hip hop (and in my case, being a Jay-Z fan since 1996), and two, it's got a bit more to it than just trivia. I really like the line:

"If you admire someone then go ahead and tell 'em
People never enjoy the flowers while they can still smell 'em."

Kanye West - Not a fan of the Black Eyed Peas or MTV.

I think he's been cool with will.i.am. But yeah, here's another year's worth of ammunition against him. I mean, yeah, his videos are really good (especially the new one for Good Life), but I think it's strange that he seems to continue viewing a friggin' MTV VMA as some sort of defining validation of his skills. These are the awards that gave video of the year to Justin Timberlake over Johnny Cash's "Hurt". Get over it.

He name drops will.i.am in a positive way in the new album.

I like this song. The way it holds Jay up in high regard and knocks him at the same time. Toomp's beat is nice as well.

And Kanye really needs to knock it off whining about the damn MTV Awards. You're the biggest selling artist around and you win awards all the time.

I think he meant that he was better musically than the Black Eyed Peas, not that he didn't like them personally. Either way I can't believe ANYONE would get that riled up over an MTV award. Could you see Clooney going apeshit for losing out on one of those golden popcorn awards MTV hands out?
