Oopsies!

The ads for Bell Canada's Solo discount service showed a young woman decked out in flashy punk rock attire, with a button that reads "Belsen was a gas" -- the controversial title of a song by the Sex Pistols, and a reference to Nazi Germany's Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.
I can halfway buy the excuse that the button was unreadable in the proofs but shouldn't someone at the photoshoot picked up on this?

What a cocktease, I want to see the ad.

That's some attention to detail, referencing an obscure Sex Pistols song rather than just "I <3 Punk" or whatnot.

They could always do a retraction with "Nazi Punks Fuck Off".

People realize the song is an effort to be ironic, and in no way is an endorsement of what happened at Bergen-Belsen, right? Plus, the song is nearly 30 years old now.

I'm just curious how much of a stir this will actually cause.

Speaking of horrible ads, Carl's Jr's "Flatbuns" commercial is worse than cancer. Fuck you Carl's Jr. Apparently a bunch of teachers sent in complaints because they ad shows two guys "rapping" about like flat asses, then it shows a "teacher" gyrating around and spanking her ass. Carl's bowed to them and apparently getting to make it less risque. I think the world should complain how annoying it is, and see what Carl's does about that.

This is the chain that had Paris Hilton in an ad eating a huge burger, when everybody knows she lives on cocaine, attention, and dick.*

*This post brought to you by Carl's Jr.

Carl's Jr. believes that no commercial should be too risque. Some content will be taken out but the crappy message will remain the same. Carl's Jr....fuck you, I'm eating.

Was that featured in the True Ad Slogans thread? If not, put that shit up right now.

Consider how few people out there know that Sex Pistols song, and of the one's that do, how many understand it. That means at least 90% of the people who would see that billboard would only get it for face value. Considering 90% of those people probably wouldn't know what the fuck Belsen was, they should have kept the add and let us see the hot punk girl with the Sex Pistols button.

They could just photoshop a couple letters and make it Benson. I think we'd all agree that Robert Guillaume was a gas.
