From Beyond: Unrated Director's Cut

I saw a thread in here about the cover art, but I haven't seen one for people to talk about the DVD release so I thought I'd start one about it.

It's been a number of years since I've seen this and it was every bit as fun as I remember it. Some of the effects were MUCH clunkier than I remember but it all works. Great flick and a great follow up to Reanimator.

This DVD is amazing though. The image is super clean and the uncut version does add some noticeable grue.

Anyone else here own this and has viewed it yet?

I bought it blind, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I'm hoping for something on the level of Re-Animator, or at the very least Castle Freak.

Much closer to Re-Animator than Castle Freak. And it's got Ken Foree, which up until last month was always a fun bonus.

Definitely on par with Reanimator. They are both great fun.

Much better than Castle Freak as far as I can remember. It's been a long while since I've seen that flick.

Not quite as good as Re-Animator, but worth owning and worth rewatching. The commentary track on the disc is a lot of fun, with Combs being his usually dry, funny self, Gordon being informative, and Crampton coming across as a LOT less vapid than the Re-Animator commentary. The three of them have a really great interplay throughout. Brian Yuzna is there as well, but I'm pretty sure he's an immobile gargoyle at this point.

Seriously, Yuzna does not speak.

Man, it's great to see this film looking so good. Pink and blue gels have never been scarier.

Commentary fun fact: Italy had no word for "beyond" (so says Gordon, I'm skeptical), and the film was shot it in Rome. The crew thought they were making a movie called From Behind. Awesome.

Fact: Gordon casts his wife as a nasty bitch doctor over and over again.

The restored gore is fucking horrifying.

Dunno how many posts this thread lost, but this film needs to be seen by every motherfucker.
