UPDATE: According to CNN, Captain Pervy just tried to hang himself in his cell. He was unsuccessful. Here's my question: was he going to take that final step because he felt disgustingly bad about what he tried to do, or because he knew his career was on the ropes?

I'm just as befuddled as you are. A large part of my brain is screaming 'SLOW AND PAINFUL SKIN REMOVAL!' right now, but I also recognize that the way we're dealing with these people isn't doing jack shit and we need to make some effort to control our emotions and think about this logically.

Rehabilitation seems impossible to me, not to mention risky. Once you've caught someone like this the idea of putting them back on the streets, no matter how normal they seem, makes my skin crawl. Generally pedophiles are repeat offenders, so unless we develop some Clockwork Orange method of treatment releasing them is like allowing another child to be raped. And mentally ill or not, do they even deserve the possibility of a second chance? The line has to be drawn somewhere, I think there are some people that just can't be pardoned or fixed.

The only option that really seems viable to me is the death penalty. How else can you be sure they aren't going to strike again? How else can you keep people safe? The Pedophisle idea isn't too bad, I'm just worried they'd figure out how to build a raft.

Which leads me back to the best solution - jail for the rest of his natural born life. No more little kids winding up as post-rehab litmus tests to see if this animal can control himself. Jail for life - this is a perfect example of what prison is for. If we're going to put our tax dollars to work, then let's put them to work on this guy.

Not to defend these sickos, but arent alot of peodophiles abused as kids in the first place? I read that them doing the same thing to others is a subconsious form of taking revenge. So we've got a circle of misery going on here. If you look at the society we live in, where kids are fetishized and made 'sexy', its not surprising the amount of shit that goes on in the world around us, but I'm being more and more worried that the masses are slowly evolving into monsters.

The schoolgirl outfit has been made erotic. Having your girlfriend dressed up like that is deemed acceptable, 'barely legal' porn is acceptable, I mean its almost like the media is trying to mould people into peodophiles. Sorry for the rant but if a guy wants his woman to dress up like a schoolgirl, to me there's something wrong with that picture, and maybe he wont stop with women dressed up like that, maybe he'll eventually get aroused at the source of that outfit. I just think its fucked up whats acceptable in this day and age.

Well, when you're dealing with someone in their teens, especially their mid to later teens, there's a much larger grey area than when you're dealing with a child. While I personally find it creepy, I can see an adult male being attracted to a girl of 16. It is at or near the age of consent in most areas, it is an age of, typically, one entering or being well into the post-pubescent, sexually mature phase of their life, and it is an age at which a person is certainley capable of making their own decisions (not necessarily wise or well informed decision, but that's another discussion entirely). And I think a lot of what you're talking about (the "barely legal" porn, schoolgirl fetishes, etc.) sort of appeals to that particular mindset.

A five year old is a completely different situation. There is no debate there.

Yeah, you're right. Though when mentioning the social infatuation with teen thing, I was thinking 11 to 16 which is the age teens wear uniforms in the UK at least. 5 year olds are indeed on a whole different level. I dont even want to think anymore about this crap, its depressing.

You know, I was just thinking about this case the other night. I was wondering... how can you fit a grown mans penis into a 5 year olds anus? I know he brought lube but still. How can you get any sort of pleasure out of forcing the tip of your head into some small thing that you can kill with your hand? It doesn't make sense. He wouldn't even be able to get his full penis inside her so how is that pleasurable? Is it the fact that he's dominating and controlling a defenseless person thats turning him on so he can cum? I just don't understand how it would work out to be pleasurable.

Like someone mentioned above, I can understand having sex with 16 year old (consensual I'd hope!) since their bodies are developed for the most and can pretty much accompany a grown mans penis but a 5 year old?

There was a story I posted about a year ago I think about a man who put his finger up a babys bum and the baby got an infection and died. Now thats just a finger. The problem is that even though these guys know on an intellectual level that what they're doing is wrong, there's something fucked up mentally with them that causes them to just go on "impulse", "desire", etc. The question is how do you go about handling it. You can't go about locking people up and throwing away the key because before you know it leads to a slippery slope and you've got crowded jails with people who are never getting out. You're right that a person does lose their rights when they've committed a violent crime, but at the same time we can't lose our own humanity during the process. Otherwise our society's never going to be able to fix the problem.

Truth be told, I really don't see society dealing with pedos in any substantive way until there's technology to assist the process: some type of permanent monitoring after prison release or the targeting of the parts of the brain that are acting improperly and allow for these actions to take place.

So I was thinking about this and something pretty horrible struck me.

I would love to see the guy get the maximum sentence for this crime but I have a strange feeling he won't get it unless more past cases with him and children are exposed through victims or his own admission.

I'd hate for more kids to come forward about being abused by this guy but it almost feels inevitable.

A great, and scary, point. I once toured a brig (I had sent one of my guys there, and wanted to check out the facility) and my guide told me that the child molesters tended to have a real gift for careful, meticulous work, like fine woodoworking. Apparently, most people who are caught and convicted have been doing it for so long that careful attention to detail has become an ingrained trait.
