ERIK THE VIKING
DIRECTOR’S SON’S CUT

All-New Version Of The Hilarious Norse Satire Resounds On DVD December 4 From MGM Home Entertainment

Brand New Cut From Director Terry Jones’ Son Is Packed With Bonus Materials Including All-New Commentary, Featurettes And More

LOS ANGELES, CA – Take a trip through the dark ages with a former member of the legendary comedy troupe, Monty Python, and popular historian Terry Jones when Erik the Viking: Director’s Son’s Cut arrives on DVD December 4 from MGM Home Entertainment. The witty, pythonesque satire of Viking life based on Norse mythology was adapted from the children’s fantasy book, The Saga of Erik the Viking, and directed by Jones for his son. According to Jones, "When the film came out in 1989 I was not happy at all with it. With the Monty Python movies I'd been a hands-on editor, yet with Erik The Viking I didn't get involved in the process until too late. I've always thought there was a better film in there, waiting to get out, and this new version is it!" The new and never-before-seen version has been edited and re-cut to 75 minutes by Jones’ son with re-ordered scenes, a tighter pace and a remixed and re-dubbed soundtrack.

With hilarious performances by Academy Award®-winner Tim Robbins (Mystic River, The Shawshank Redemption) and Academy Award®-nominee John Cleese (A Fish Called Wanda, Monty Python and the Holy Grail), the film also features many cameo appearances including Eartha Kitt, Mickey Rooney and Jones himself. Featuring bonus materials including brand new commentary with director Jones, “Behind the Director’s Son’s Cut” featurette, the original 1989 making-of featurette, theatrical trailer and Giant Visions in the Sky from the Gods of Valhalla (photo gallery), the Erik the Viking: Director’s Son’s Cut DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $19.98 U.S / $25.98 Canada. Pre-book is November 7.

I have no idea, man.

I think the idea of letting Jones' kid do it is weird. But, I don't know if the kid's done anything before this.
