I'm a member of the Columbia House DVD club. I forgot to decline my Director's Selection of Disturbia. Frankly, I don't even remember it being one. Anyway, I get the DVD in the mail, and decide to exchange it for a different one at Wal-Mart. I have nothing against Shia, it's just not a movie I want to own, let alone pay $25.00 for.
I arrive at Wal-Mart, get my little pink sticker at the door, and inform the customer service lady that I didn't have a recipt, but I wanted to exchange it for a different title. She said that was no problem, just go get what I want. I go back to electronics and see Disturbia is $19.96, and so is Death Proof. Cool beans. I go back to the counter with Tarintino's latest. When she scans Disturbia the price comes up $14.96 insead of $19.96.
I had to pay five bucks and change to do the exchange.
$30 to purchase Death Proof. $5 just to get rid of my copy of Disturbia. Nice.
Now, I know what I did wasn't exacly ethical. I got what wanted, I just had to pay a little extra. What concerns me is do they do this all the time? If I buy a friend a DVD for Christmas this year, will they have to pay to exchange it?
