Brian's article- http://www.creature-corner.com/?type=news&id=2861

Interesting. Course, they won't be able to get away with too much on NBC, but like Brian said, it's good to see some genre stuff on network tv.

So... NBC's Masters of Horror?

So, I hate to say it but, "PG-13" MoH? I'll pass. Plus, I haven't seen many on Showtime that were any good.

Maybe by restricting what they can show they'll be forced to focus more on making them good? That's probably just wishful thinking, 'course...

I enjoy SUPERNATURAL quite a bit, so it's not unheard of. The show's a little anthology-esque (when not dealing with the main mythology) and is able to pull off some decent atmosphere for its time slot and "general audience" channel.

I think it all depends on the directors and writers they choose (plus the material they adapt). I think it's almost fundamentally flawed to have a toned down MoH because the main selling point was the "anything goes" mentality. Plus, many of the directors that were showcased in the first two seasons never made a film that was rated below R (I think Landis and Garris are the only exceptions). So, instead of hiring say, a George Romero, they instead go with a...fuck is there anyone who is a "master" that specializes in toned down horror?

Between POTC and The Ring, I'd say Gore Verbinski?

Handled poorly, it'll just be too "Goosebumps".

You never know. While not stricly "horror", The twilight Zone and the X-Files are standout, creepy, network TV shows I enjoyed greatly over the years. And I'm CERTAIN that had more to do w/ the brilliance of Serling's writing, in 'Zone's case than anything else. W/ X-files it was probably the strong writing, too. But it could have been Jillian Anderson's hotness. Or both. It sure as hell wasn't David Duchovny's acting range. While I'm not among them, some seem to have enjoyed the TV adaptation of "It" a lot, too. It's even rumored that they did a TV version of "The Stand". The rumors further state there were people who liked it.

Ditto, great atmosphere and storytelling for the most part on both shows.
